Boss Mom, my local pub does 18 gallons on a saturday night, and the average rally will get through considerably more than that. If the licensee doesn't have much idea about bike rallies and beer consumption he may need pointing in the right direction. The last thing you want is entertainment on site and everyone going off to a local pub because the beer's run out. The last time I took in a delivery for a bike rally which was a 600 person limit we had 20 firkins (9 gallon) real ale, 15 * 11 gallons lager, plus bottled stock. We ran out on Sunday afternoon with the rally not ending until the Monday.
The person cannot get more real ale barrels in because they have to be in their final serving positions 2 days prior to being tapped and served.
I have known one Real Ale that cleared in 24 hours but that is very unusual.
Sometimes they can take 3 days to clear in their final serving position.
I think one nine gallon barrel (only 72 pints!) will barely last the first night, the same as happened at 'The Friendly Rally'.
Lager clears much quicker (or doesn't require clearing at all I'm not sure?) and so can be bought in later to replenish supplies, but will not appease the Real Ale drinkers.
There are quite a few Real Ale drinkers amongst us bikers and if he has three nine gallon barrels it still wouldn't last the weekend.
Boss Mom goin to speak to the guy about if he has celler room to have them set up in place if he does we are happy to ask for more barrels but you will have to make sure you all drink him dry so he is not left with them after ?
can you PM boss mom with your number and she can contact you for direct as you know about this stuff
I've PM'd Boss Mom as I'm camping in portugal at the moment and it's peeing down here! ( has been for the last 12 hours!)
I'm holed up in the Wi-Fi room and have good internet connection and will be on BM all day unless it floods!
ratty
woohoooo im so looking forward to kiss and meeting you all, am chuckeling reading all the panic re beer, good cellar management is all thats required guys as long as they are racked in advance and allowed to drop all will be fine in the real ales. lager etc doesnt have this problem simply change and go lol, mind if he only has one type of real ale on 1 barrel will be no where near enough my pub does at least 2 in a evening and there not all thirst hungry bikers. he may however have got his barrrels brighted which means tap and go.fear not you guys we will have a blast xxxx
You will be the guy sat on the carpark in the morning lol
Boss Mom will sort you out if you can let her know of a rough time of arival we may still be about
Rally just got back from, 24 firkins ran out 11pm sat night 350 people. 100 people at 6pts per night is 16 firkins. I think someone needs to do their sums. You can get real ale in as [bright] in polypins, no settling.
I like real ale. Alternatively I like cask beers (not lager), whisky, whiskey, brandy, gin, rum, vodka, ouzo, snaps, southern comfort, bourbon, cock tails, OK lager in the absence of nothing else..................not that I drink much. We have to think of others though. Oh tequila. Standing up may not be an opion or a choice.. This may make my profile null and void.
is it just me or is the Anticipation of this rally making it seem to be so far off?? really cAnt wait to see BJ doing her forfeit so get yer hands in pockets to get up to the taget peeps
One of the smaller rugby clubs in Rochdale held a bike rally last year and brought in extra real ales and other beers after being told by the bike club that he would be drunk dry. Unfortunately many peeps brought their own beer and the rugby club was left with alot of wastage! This year they still held the rally but brought in bottled beers instead of barrels!
So if they do get in more barrels then i hope that they are "drunk dry" as this is better than leaving the poor guy with more beer than he can possibly hope to get rid of
well said FG cAnt have the guys losing money through wastage but it will all depend on whether peeps decide to bring their own beers in my experience of rugby clubs the price of beers is usally reeasonable so no one should feel the need to bring their own
Folk will always bring a bit for in their tent, that's not a problem, but as the T&Cs state, obviously it is not OK to take your own into the venue.
I guess for a better idea of numbers, it would be good if all the real ale drinkers who are definitely attending could PM me that would be great and give us a better idea of what sort of volumes we're looking at. I don't need to know whether you want to drink 2 pints or 7 pints (or more lol), just that you would be drinking real ale as opposed to lager etc.
Cheers guys.
