Well that was a good ride up. Ridiculous amount of traffic as far as Fort Bill, then a pretty much clear run to Fort Gus 😈 Present and incorrect so far; Pete, Ian, Jaffa, Lindsey and me. Everyone else is staying at home to wash their hair
Biker Bill has joined the party. Today, been hot and sunny, we've been off up the Kyle, over the bridge to Skye and back via the Kylerhea ferry. All unbelievably pretty.
Having had an off bike day yesterday today was back to normal. Off up the loch, bit of a detour via Strathglass, up the A9 over two spectacular bridges (Cromarty and Dornoch) and thus to Bonar Bridge and a damned fine cafe. Got there just in time to watch the rain. Back via a quite spectacular B9176 (well it would be without some rain), Inverness and the obligatory enthusiasm down Loch Ness. I'm now sat with a beer while Lindsey makes bangers'n'mash for tea 🥰
Managed to cover just over 1600 miles - decided to head back on Monday 'cos I'd seen the weather forecast ( and I'm a wimp who doesn't like getting wet ). Did the 420 or so miles back home - dropped the trailer off and headed for the local cash point 'cos I'd spent all my money on enjoying myself.
Grabbed some cash and set off back home - only around three miles or so - when there was an alarming noise from my front wheel bearings. I'd fitted four, rather than two, bearings, which was a good job 'cos both of the left hand bearings had failed big time . . . .with bits of the bearing race poking out from the front hub. Good job that didn't fail in Scotland.
Well that was jolly good fun. Weather a bit iffy in places but enough sunshine, dry roads and big open spaces to make me happy. Good to see all who came, hope you enjoyed it as much as me.
