Re your comment Julie, rumour has it the Driving Standards Agency are looking to put Theory training for cars and bikes into the school carriculum in 2011 maybe they are listening.
Littlechick, bet thats a lesson you wont forget soon, must be frightening to think what could have resulted,

trning right at some lights in London a biker jumped the lights an hit my front left side i can still see his face goin over the bonnet of my cortina!!luckily he was ok!!
LC, if he was cutting through the traffic then he should have been more careful. I never overtake when there is any possibility of something turning right (as sometimes indicators don't get used) and if go past stationary traffic, its only at 10-15mph MAX. Also keep the brake covered ready for immediate application, thing stops on a dime at that.
Hmm.. dont wana sound racist here but I really am avoiding anything made in China, not that it says it is, just last thing ya want failing is your headlight, only got one!! I'll message ya private, post the results of what we find guys/dolls.
TM. That one you sent the link to is 8000K, maybe too blue, from what I read 6000K would be better. Dont rush into buying one, do a bit of research, after all, you only have one if it fails. I will get back to all after checking colour/reliability.
Just a thought about poss failures on HID. Normally, if your dip beam goes, at night, you either carry a spare, as I do, or get you home/garage on main. If this unit failed, you would have nothing, and even if you did have main beam, imagine a light 4X as bright, straight in oncoming traffics faces. A. As said before, leave original socket fitted for MOT and even if all electronics fails, you can resort to conventional.
The chances
The electronics is a complicated piece of electronics that has to generate a high voltage to cause an arc in the bulb. Best to buy of someone who has confidence to offer 2 or 3 yr warranties at least.
seen recently on trip to the States an addition to rear brake light, this was an LED about 1 inch high and 12 inches across they light up in red and flicker from left to right, they are very effective and attention drawing at night.
My question is are they legal on our roads and if so where can you purchase them?
the flicker lights seen on bycycles are not legal so guess same with them, was thinkin o fittin a long rear brake light like you fit in your rear window in yer car on top of the number plate as an extra warning!
Ah thanks for that TM didnt know bicycle flashing lights were illegal.........should have known...what isn't on our little island, wonder why they are illegal?
Think I heard that its the time that there off is not legal, but if at least one light is on all the time, its OK. That's for pushbikes, don't know about cars/motorbikes. If so, scanning ones are OK. Someone correct me if wrong.
