Chy carne holiday park
So thats one option sounds as if they will let you crack on and they have open fires there etc, just a bit of a drive to get there..
That looks promising John, think its worth waiting now to see the rest of the responses you get and then decide.
Just had a look at the run to the sun site, they are planning to run a convoy down the M4/M5/A30 starting at Reading at 9am and stopping at every services on the way down.
That looks a really good site John and what is good about it is you pay per person rather than pay for a pitch which can sometimes make it expensive for a single person. I know some sites I have stayed on I have had to pay the same price as someone who has a family tent and up to four people in it, another bonus is they have static vans for those who fancy a bit more home comfort.
Ian its not far really, I used to drive to Cambourne every other Friday night after work and then head back home on a Monday morning ready to go to work the same day. I used to do that in four hours, didn't even bother to stop on the way.
Ok so an update on the 1st BM Run to the Sun. Not all the campsites I have e-mailed have replied. I have had a few good responses and each of the sites have said they are more than happy to host us, I have put some pro's and cons down.
So have a look and let me know what you think?

I agree with jabecs about the first one,a few more miles wont hurt.
As for the vw owners run to the sun,I got caught up in that one year with a mate when we camped in Newquay. The traffic didnt seem that bad as most of them were stationary on the side of the road
I like the sound of that Tintagel one too. I'm a bit biased though, as that one gives me a bit of a ride too, lol. Chy Carne is only 10 minutes from my house!
Pondlife; you don't have to cross the Tamar Bridge if you come straight down the A30!
I went to Chy Carne today, it was miserable with rain so it may have tainted my opinion. I wasn't wowed by it, don't get me wrong if you want to go sit there and chill out with our own beve's its fine but there won't be much else there, no club house etc .....i have seen better but it is still in its wound down for winter state...
The site is on 2 levels really the camping bit on the lower field.....it isn't flat as it says, it has gentle slope away from the top level.....
The showers and toilets are there and look decent enough, the washers and dryers aralso clean and look servicable.
The shop is little bigger than a shed, however there seems to be a new building going up across from it. ( maybe a new one)
There is a spar shop just a couple of minutes from the entrance, also a small pub and it looks like a food shop, not sure if its open or not...
There are fire baskets dotted around the park and also the chiminea's I think there called ( big clay teardrop shaped fires)
There is also a small 12 x 12 frame with what looks like a barbique there, however there was no tent cover to be seen, probably only when it opens end of march.
The beach down the road is no where near as good as most others I have seen in the area.
Someone told me today that the Cornwall MAG have a rally not far from there on the same weekend but I can find no evidence of it on line....anyone enlighten me on this?
I personaly think that it isn't the best I've seen, it is ok, but a recce of a few others would be best just to be sure we are getting the best place possible.
