Hiya I'm a new member who joined this site cos I thought it was a dating site, but after having time to look at newsletter, chat forums & plenty of profiles, etc I realise it's much more than that - it seems to be a great way for meeting new friends, young, old, crazy & not so crazy, I'm glad I decided to jump in & give it a try.....& will try to join in some of the meets when I can....however, I would prefer it if you had to provide a profile pic if you want to try dating ( I know you shouldn't just go by looks but it does help) Out of about 100 profiles on my matchmaker list there are 65 with pics, about 35 without pics & 1 in full motorbike gear including helmet riding a bike - I am not gonna try to get in touch with ones with no pics am I?....Also, am I gonna bother about the ones that can't be bothered to write a description about their personality etc I doubt it......I know its daunting trying to describe what you are like, but a short description is better than none.......Anyway, am looking forward to finding some new friends here soon

hi patty, welcome to the site. Please can you report the one with helmet to moderators? Just go into the profile and click Report to Moderators somewhere around the top right. We need to fix that photo.

Thanks

Matt, seems a shame to report him cos it is a nice pic of nice bike but rules is rules & it is the only pic of him

Patty, if it is the ONLY pic on his profile then the mods can't alter it, they can delete it but can't alter it.

we'll politely ask him to upload a new one - he wont know you reported him. Or we'll select an existing one if he has it

If they only upload one pic tho and get a pm asking them to upload another

1 is it followed up on and

2 what happens if they dont? Or say they don't have another?

I don't bother asking Cos I'm too busy to monitor it...I just delete and tell them to upload a valid pic

I keep a list and chase them up, if they dont upload one i delete the existing one.

thing is Jackie - other people see them photos and say "oh john smith has a photo of his dog, why cant i?"

I don't know. How long you wait before deleting? Each mod has his/her own way of doing it but I like to be evil and ruthless

Boss Man i give them 1 week.

I go on the assumption that as they are new to the site they havent read the rules yet so i point them in the right direction :)

If they are long time members i change it and give them a sharp prod lol

Do you disable their profile and tell them to re-enable when they upload a new pic? Just to stop other members getting pee'd off about "one rule for me, one rule for everyone else" kinda thing

I go with the ruthless option as per Matt - I delete it if it's the only one and ask them to upload a suitable one, but explain it's also acceptable to have no pic if they don't want to be identified for now and that bike pics can be put in a different album, leaving the profile album clear

So....Have I got this right....You don't actually have to have a profile pic of yourself. Just not one of your bike/cat/dog /granny etc..
The silhouette thingy is o.k ?

If they don't have profile pic the dating side of BM won't work & as has been said before it's nice to see who you are talking to if you want to find friends.

So it's o.k to just have the silhouette ?? 4 years on here and yet again I'm BLOODY CONFUSED!!!
