Drivers that do 40mph in a 30mph busy high street and then continue to do 40mph after passing the National speed limit sign when exiting town.....

Cheers Pond - pain in the backside isn't it?

I've sent them all the same letter, along with a detailed summary of who I owe what to and what I'm proposing to pay everyone in the same percentage breakdown of the total owed, nobody getting preferential treatment and everybody getting all their money back within 36 months.

It seems it's not enough for certain creditors. And apparently my account is "scheduled" to go out to their debt collection agency next week so there's "nothing" they can do to "help" me.

What a load of old codswallop! Bunch of numpties. Still, I suppose they're making money out of it all the time they refuse to accept any offer from me. The debt's increased from £600 to £900 already in charges, so it pays them to continue to refuse to co-operate

i dont know what it is you owe wannabe, but in the past when i have had bikes on hp etc...if you owe 1,ooo but they want a silly settlement of like 1400 cause of interest etc....if you pay 950 quid off.....and leave 50 pound still oweing, they can only charge you interest on money oweing...ie the interest on 50 pound, dont know if this helps.

Why do bosses always get round asking you to do stuff outside your normal work by saying "its in your contract, as, and all other duties deemed necessary" I know what i deeemed was necessary to think, but as a lady i shall refrain from typing it out loud !!

Hi Wannabe,

You cannot be forced to pay money you do not have. You should go to Citizens Advice (free) and do a financial statement. If you then make a reasonable offer within your finances it will not be refused in court. You need to ask for all fees to be waived and interest frozen. Remember, if you do this and act responsibly, if you are taken to court a judge will always fall on your side. In law, if you don't have the money you cannot be forced to pay.

Thanks Lime

I've done just that - the offer is in excess of what a court would force me to pay, as I do try to take my responsibilities seriously... I just think these companies like to bully you in the hopes that you're only pretending not to have any money and try to force you into paying them more.

It pays them to delay agreeing to your proposals as during that time, they can continue slapping charges on the accounts.

My mortgage company sent round a "debt counsellor" when I was, wait for it... £28 in arrears!! I actually missed 1 month's payment, but due to their useless admin, I'd overpaid during the preceding year, so in monetary terms, I was hardly in arrears at all... They were threatening to force the sale of my house so they can get their measly 2 grand back... Their own man just laughed at that and said no court in the land would rule in their favour... I'm inclined to agree, although I admit I'm not all that keen to put that one to the test!

I'm going back to the CAB with all the correspondence exchanged with my creditors since my previous visit, so I'm sure they'll help me with the next step and meantime, I'll send a cheque for the amount I've offered them, regardless of their acceptance or otherwise.

Nice to have it independently verified that I'm taking the right steps. Thanks Lime & welcome to the forum!

1 rule you must follow WB that is so called baliffs are infact the same as vampires they cannot enter you home without being invited, but once they are in they can return at anytime day or night weather you are in or not to retrieve anything they deem salebale to help pay off your debit. I found a passage on the net and printed it off when I was getting baliffs round (in fact they were just spastic debit collectors using scare tactics calling them selve balifs) I printed the passage out and selotaped it to my glazed front door funny how (my new erm garlic) prevented them from even touching my front door lol
