A pettifogger is one who bickers and parsimonious means mean, although it refers more accurately to miserly. So a bickering, mean (or tight) person. Anyone in particular BJ? The gaffer perhaps lol?

Gossips! Agree they have no life so interfere in other people's. I was told on the phone the other day "Oh you're seeing a Hell's Angel now ain't ya?"..... I am???!! Wow.... news to me! When I last looked, I wasn't seeing anyone (well no-one publicly lol)... but gossips can do so much damage!

They can be pretty funny too though

In less than 24 hours, a minor incident during which, one of my doormen had scratched his knuckles slightly while disarming a bloke carrying a knife, had turned into "OMG Lou! What the hell are you doing at work?!"

Apparently I'd been stabbed in the chest.

Bless 'em all. At least you can be considered interesting enough to be gossiped about. Nobody gossips about me any more *cries*

lol WB.... I went from someone hitting my car up the ass on the M5 to "Cissy's been in a terrible car crash!" by the time I got home! Despite my best efforts, removing myself from the whole gossipy world of MCC's and MC's...it would appear that some people are still interested in what I am doing! Sad then that actually, I am doing nothing with nobody!

Sounds familiar... Some years ago, I was allegedly shagging 3 different blokes, as well as my then b/f... I also worked Mon-Fri 9-5 (in fact, 7pm most nights) and every night except Tuesday in pubs/clubs.

I suppose if I never slept, I might have found time to squeeze all this activity in! The eejit b/f believed the gossips though *shrugs* and he was most upset when he confronted me with the "evidence" and I fell about laughing myself silly.

I agree some can be funny, However most have added 2 & 2 together & have come up with 64 & thats not nice when they report it as fact. Having been on the back end of that I know how annoying something like that is, some people just have to stir things & dont bother to check out the facts before reporting things

That gossiping split me and that b/f up... Could've been dreadful, but I figured I was WAY better off out of it.

If someone who allegedly cares about me believes the word of an idle gossip rather than (a) trusting me or (b) applying basic logic and realising that without the ability to bend time/space it was impossible for me to be doing the things I was accused of, then I figure they're not worth my energy.

I also couldn't have been lying about my whereabouts on jobs 2 & 3 as he worked in the same nightclub and would drink in the pub when I was working shifts there!

People will always add 2 & 2 together and come up with whatever they please.

While working in one nightclub I was "warned" by a concerned customer that I was getting a "reputation". Her reason? I smiled too much. WTF?! Apparently I was supposed to be seducing every bloke I smiled at across the bar. What about the women I was smiling at? Didn't they get a look in?

I loved working behind the bar. What would be the point of standing there with a scowl on your face all night?! I was earning the princely sum of £3.23 per hour, so I certainly didn't do it to get rich!

You can be accused of all manner of things for the most innocent of actions.

Leave 'em to it. Or confront them directly and tell them to wind their necks in.

Yup, can sometimes be humorous, but also dangerous. I met a bloke at a rally, he was a back patch member and well known in the area. I actually liked him... Within a week of our first 'date', I had three or four people all "wanting what's best for me" and "don't want you to get hurt"... telling me all sorts of stories about aforementioned blokie. I rang him everytime I was told another little nugget, cos I was not about to listen to the gossips. Obviously most of what I was told was pants, and ridiculously wrong. We continued seeing each other until the gossips then turned on me and told him all the stuff I was meant to be doing! It got to the point where it was not worth us carrying on, and we called it a day He didn't know me well enough or trust me enough to believe me... And people wonder why I walked away from my own club!
