I'll try and get an early start beat the traffic its about 400 miles so what 6 hours with stops haven't crossed to A1/M1 for a long long time 10 years so not sure of the traffic ...anyone reckon better heading up M5 M6 then going east???
Johnny as long as you get through the M5/6 junction at the right time, before it becomes a car park it shouldn’t be too bad, but of course you will be filtering past (with care) the stationary boxes.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
I will be coming from the North (<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Scotland</st1:place></st1:country-region>) and it wants to take me over the A66 then down the M1, but I am going to stick with the M6 then across the A65.<o:p></o:p>
Looking forward to meeting up with all my new friends, sounds like you have good fun weekends.<o:p></o:p>
Yeah was thinking that Doh boy, but its extra miles all the route planners are cutting me across M5 M6, M42, M1.....seems ok but my memories of the M1 are traffic cameras wagons and digital speed camera's but haven't been on in ages almost 10 years....nevr mind have tom tom will be fore warned....
johnnytb, I'd take the M5/M6 option at the Moment, the M1 has a large string of roadworks with 50mph average speed cameras on it currently. I know the M6 has its share between stoke and wigan sort of area but its still the route I'd go for.
Roger will do, its a quicker run up the M6 anyway I think....the road works annoy me as there is seldom anyone working on them, just dotted up and down motorways to cause congestion lol
Ok Steph, think its gonna be the Friday for me too. I've got Thursday off, but think the people I'm riding up with are going on the Friday.
Does anyone else want to meet at Squires on the Friday?
Jim/Tracy, its a shame you cant make it .. get well soon Tracy, hope to see you both again soon.
Sounds like there will be quite a few at this one..looking forward to seeing you all and meeting new friends :o)
Karey, are you talking about Squires in Sherbet (or whatever it's called)? What time are you meeting there?I'm hoping to come up from Brum but don't want to turn up on my tod, so it'd be good if I could meet up with people somewhere on the way. Gary.
Hi Gary, yep thats the one, tho us norvernors call it Sherburn ..lol wel its actually Sherburn in Elmet, in fact its just outside Sherburn..but you know what i mean ! lol
Not sure of the time yet, but will find out, was meant to go up there tonight, but dint get.
You're more than welcome, I don't know my way, but my friends do.
Is there anyone else from the middle earth going? :o)
Kaz
Karey, a friend of mine used to live near Sherburn, and it's also near the river Cock, so I've always know it as Sherbet-on-Cock. I forget that you northerners probably have your own name for it. ;-) There's nobody else I know from Middle Earth coming, that's why I was hoping to meet up with people somewhere on the way.The Met Office are saying possibility of snow, so you might be needing those skis. ;-)Gary.
hahah..nor me steph.. might even have to forego my big chair! and take a tripod stool !
lol @ GBeldon! ahhh well a bit of snow wint hurt, we've done it before, check out the photos on East Leeds Lions 2008!
Mind ya.. i wernt riding my bike that time... *gulp*
I'll find out this week what time we're meeting at Sherbert dib-dab, and let you know.
Well I reckon I'll finish work lunch time Thursday so not sure whether to set of thursday and stop on route or to hard core it all on the friday.....
.......what is worse, I have a 110 mile drive to Exeter tomorrow for bike service and if the weather is anything like today I will be PM'ing members in Exeter for the use of their tumble dryer, just jump in my kit and myself and roll about until I dry off lol
