Hi Kd,
I got a magnetic one for mine & mounted it on a plate under no plate, I did some photocopies in case anybody forgot. I dont think the plods bother too much about this though. I've asked several people who have been over and none have been stopped for this.

Hi all

In terms of a GB sticker on bikes, no you'll not get pulled for not having one but most bikers have something on the back (I have Ecosse).

Right a wee update

Germany is now booked and will need to be paid in full in euros regardless if you make it or not. This means 4 nights x € 30,00 incl. breakfast € 120 each regardless of room type

Because if ya don't then it's me that has paid for it, The hotel does not take cards so if you want something ya pay for it in euros. There are plenty cash machines about so no worries getting any when u need it.

Sat Travelodge You should have booked this
Sun/Thurs Germany I have booked this
Thurs/Fri Holland (Matts) Staying overnight at boss mans
Fri/Sat Belgium You should have booked this
Sat Home

Essentials

Do bring warm/waterproof gear... your the one that has to suffer if not
Do bring bike Docs.. you are required to by law
Do make sure your policy covers Europe not just UK..same as above
Do make sure you have breakdown cover

Optional
Do make sure you have Ins for medical

My bike
I will have a small tool box/puncture repair/tyre weld/small medical kit

Any questions or worries either pm me or post here

Hi Karen,
According to what I have read we need All documents
ie. passport, bike insurance, travel insurance, Licence (both parts), Mot & log book. You should also carry hi-vis vest, 1st aid kit.

Dont think I missed anything but Chris will put you right

cheers x

Hi

Ownership docs, ins, mot if applicable for bike. for you though you can take out health ins but nhs will cover u abroad but basic needs only. if you take ins then u get any treatment needed and looked after better.

I don't take hi viz gear usualy but will this time because I'm leading a group. The regulations are for car drivers as they recognise bike don't have areas to store such items.

Got all our stuff together.I always carry my docs on a long run anyway, just saves having to produce later if you get a tug from plod. I've "borrowed" the first aid kit from my lorry, got a spare set of bulbs,E11 cards for any medical emergencies etc etc. We wont be stopping at Matt's thursday, going to Ypres instead for the evening ceremony at the Menin Gate. It's somethingh I've always promised myself to attend, mainly because my grandad was sent to the Ypres salient after he was gassed in the trenches. We'll meet up with you all again at calais after a quick visit to Adinkerke for the baccy

These days they already know if your bike is legal as it's all on PNC, police national computer.

The reason you need to take docs abroad troops is so that that non uk police can check you own what ur on or legal to be on it.

I never take docs with me unless going abroad but like everything else that's just the way go

madscots @ 01/04/2011 10:24

fuel at a service area?? you're better off coming off the motorway to a tesco or something, they are normally quite close to a motorway anyway and you'll save around 10p a litre although I suspect you dont need me to tell you that!

I was thinking leaving Dreghorn on by pass 2.5 hours is a realistic time to do the trip down A68 as we come out 8 miles North of Scotch Corner

My only concern is the M25 being busy when we get there

madscots @ 04/04/2011 23:18

Yes grumps bats has done her homework! Right then guys plan of attack is to meet at Fosse Park Leicester LE19 1HY that's if you want to fill up with cheaper petrol just to make you aware there will be no toilets at the petrol station!! Get off at J21 of the M1 and head straight (A5460) for a very short distance to the next roundabout and take the third exit and you'll see the Asda petrol station to your right, or if you prefer Sainsburys that's on the other side of the road. How long will it take you to get there from Scotch Corner I've only had a letter off the DVLA saying that they've found an error on my Driving Licence and they want my licence returned with my counterpart, well they can have back on my return!! More hassle!!

   Update Reply
Bat @ 04/04/2011 23:56

EEK @ DVLA!! Hope it'll be ok bat! The M25 shouldn't be too bad apart from the odd bits and pieces around heathrow area and then the A3,especially on a saturday but theres plenty of room for weaving
