Not in my experience.
There is a saying you may well know and has borne the testimony of many millions for many thousands of years, probably...
Don't knock it till you've tried it!Then and only then can your opinion be worth a jot or a tittle.
So you base your opinions on others experience? No, I dont believe said experience can come from books and stories' so you have an opinion that isnt your's.
That term is one I do not like . "Dont knock it till you have tried it " .. I could reel off a bad comedians 5 min skit on that phrase . We would start with beastiality and finish up on Lady GaGa.
So you base your opinions on others experience? No, I dont believe said experience can come from books and stories' so you have an opinion that isnt your's. ""
Ahh but you admit it IS an opinion . The thought is there . And out it came in the form of text . Ilinformed or not .
Yea but only you are applying it to beastiality and Lady GaGa, i am applying it to rallies, mud, rain, beer, infamous rock bands and a group of people that like the aforementioned crap!
Peoples opinions have never stopped me 'trying things'if they did i'd do f'kall, being as the thread is about rallies ,Ive been to one or two, some were garbage and I wont go again, waste of time, some are cracking, your point on not carrying much except the credit card is fine, cant fault you,try the Farmyard next year, book into the Royal Oak.Might even get your bike warmed up getting there.Try something new.
Well I cant be held responsible for a wandering mind . Your a bit demanding you aint ya . I have done all the above .. seen megadeth , lived in scotland so know much about rain and mud .I drinked beer . camped all that sort of thing ... But I think it could be improved ... Like bikes have improved over the years .. but it all seems the same .Now go and chase your tail or something I am getting tired .Or become less difficult .
Fxr .. hats a good answer to my original question .. Its got a hotel . Its a start .. now we need to build on those foundations .. Think BIG blue sky thinking time dude,,, think dancing girls, blackjack ,steak, hot showers ,think hot tubs in a field .
Never seen Megadeath, heard them and in my opinion theyre crap, not interested, have lived in Scotland, long time ,know loads about mud and rain,i dont 'drinked' beer though,I camp all that sort of thing.very true! it could be improved, and has, depends on how much you want to spend, cant be a problem with a credit card. See you in the Royal Oak next year.
Yeah they were crap but then so were The Who Susan Vega was better than both of them ,,, do do doo do dodo do doo do do doo do doo do doo doo do do doo ...
I still think Katooom's right lol!! I've done loads of rallies in the past and I'm not sure I ever truly enjoyed any of them!
However, riding your bike to some distant land, checking in to a nice hotel and spending a few days riding some of the best roads in the area ... now that is fun!
Sorry if it offends people (and having a different opinion to the majority does seem to cause offense on this site for some strange reason), but rallies aren't for me.
I dont think its the 'different opinion' geoffb,if there wasnt different opinions the world would be a dull place, its usually the way it's put across,or the word play or just the wind up that gets folk on the rise. I agree, hotels can be marvellous things when on the road, ive done it, although rallies are held in a field...usually,thats whats they are, tents, bivvy bags, cases of your favourite drink.
I have been a member of this site for a few years now, and just recently ive stopped coming in to chat and reading the forums which i used to love, as the seem to have been hijacked by what can only be termed as complete and utter bulls****ters and wind up merchants,,,they seem to be several both male and female,, and i hope to god they dont try the wind up technique with me in person, it will be a day they will regrett!!
Having rode all the way to Snowdonia yesterday, mostly in the pouring rain after the English border had been defeated, then getting slightly lost which only added some extra miles to the journey, then arriving at campsite once i had located it, which said campsites field was close to becoming a marsh, only to suddenly remember that i had never erected a tent before, at least not the ones we all love to sleep in, and once finally that feat had been accomplished(mainly thanks to a good hearted guy and his 7 year old son) i went to my rain filled boudoir to settle down for the night, but only after i had done battle with ten thousand midges and then after a mostly sleepless night due to being rudely awakened because i had rolled over into some puddle or other, there were many others, i awoke at 4am refreshed and exuberant and spent the next hour watching the untainted night sky filled with stars of every shape(ok they were all round) and size, being amazed at all the shooting stars and the satellities orbiting this dear planet of ours and wondering why on earth i still couldn't get a signal on my phone .
So now i, unlike Katoom, can put away my fairy stories about rallies and camping out and form my own opinion and a highly valid one at that.I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
Markie ... That sounds like just the occasion when bolting for the nearest travelodge would be the grown up sensible decision . To be honest your trip sounds as much fun as a wet weekend in Wales ..
