nut they have special cameras abroad for spotting raging acne and other facial misdemeaners and yep it's generally known as a 'spot' fine
I've flashed my lights for years if people are not using their mirrors and i've never been a victim of road rage, most of them realise they're being a tw*t and wave an apology as they're moving over! If not it's time to strike
probably daren't Terry, anyone white eye starring at me with one finger up and I'd probably cause a pile up !!
*Nut decides its better to not unleash herself on the biker/driving community and will stay pilly/passenger......*

If anyone is coming up behind me at speed i tend to stay where i am untill they slow down and then move over in my own time. unless they've got blue lights on. i will never move over for someone flashing headlights aspecially if their driving a beemer or an audi.

Well blues wouldn't it be a little more sensible to realise someone needs to get somewhere quicker than you do, rather than deliberately pi**ing them off. I once tried your tack many years ago with a bloke in a porsche until he got beside me and showed me a card in his window with 'DOCTOR' written on it! What an arse I felt and i've never done it since.
And whats wrong with Audis and Beemers, sounds like a little green eyed monster poppin up there mate
Lane discipline in the UK is really poor. Hogging the outside or middle lane is extremely bad manners, poor driving and, as has already been pointed out, illegal in some countries. There's nothing wrong with flashing your lights once or indicating right to let them know you're there, especially when the inside lane(s) are clear. If they then decide to be bloody minded or not see you, I start flashing my lights more frequently. I don't normally use my lights in light traffic and good lighting conditions, saving that for filtering, poor light or ignorant drivers who hog the outside lane. So, I try to be patient and give them the opportunity to move over, remind them that I'm there and if they still choose not to move over when there's room to do so, I start being more strident but leave plenty of room. Its better than an inside overtake. When I'm licensed to fit a .5" Browning, I may get a bit more aggressive
the drivers that bug me r the ones that see u filterin thro the traffic and either dont move over 4 you or pull over 2 block yr way through grrrrrrrrrr
There is nothing wrong with a decent length flash on the main beam (say around 1 second) as you're approaching a vehicle that is hogging one of the two outside lanes.
I do this all the time if I can see that the vehicle I am approaching can safely move over (and indeed therefore shouldn't even be there in the first place).
A single flash is not aggressive. It is informative and recognised by both the highway code and advanced driving manuals. Repeated rapid flashing is aggressive and I would never condone this.
However, for someone to continue to hog the lane in such a way as the pillock this morning is both rude and dangerous. There are far too many ignorant drivers on the roads nowadays and as Cat points out, these cause more delays and congestion than anything else on today's motorways and dual carriageways.
Yes, ok maybe I shouldn't have allowed myself to get angry. But people on this forum have just admitted to allowing themselves to get angry by seeing people flashing them! I don't know the details of course, but it is entirely possible that those doing the flashing are the polite ones and those getting angry and refusing to move over simply because they've been flashed are not!

On the flip side tho drops have we not been shouting to be treated the same as cars for years and they don't filter or is it just when it suits we want to be a 'bike' again instead?
People who think there's a slow lane and a fast lane on the motorway - there isn't! NOW MOVE OVER!
*flash flash flash - honk honk honk - flash flash flash*
Yep, a single flash of the headlamps to let a driver know is an accepted (and recommended) signal. I regularly use it in the car when overtaking lorries just so I know they have seen me if I am emerging from their blindspot (and normally receive a quick single flash from them when the manouvre is completed).
I sometimes have slow drivers (who do 40mph whatever the road limit is) who insist on driving 2 feet in front of my rear wheel....
If a couple of blips on the throttle haven't made them aware of me (and assuming I haven't blown all of the glass out of their windows), then I employ the Sammy Miller Technique. There is no law as far as I know that says you CAN'T ride over their roof!
for cryin out loud!we are all crap drivers now and again, usually with good reason. So someone makes a n error of judgement, whats the big deal it usually comes to nothing, no harm done nobody knows what that person has going on in their life, just chill out let the situation diffuse or get wound up and end up making a mistake yourself.show a little compassion and understanding for your fellow motorists
