York 1 Lancaster 0 1803 - Wellington's 1st victory was at the Battle of Assaye, in India. 1845 - The Knickerbockers Baseball Club was founded in New York. 1912 - The 1st Keystone Cops comedy was released. 1932 - Hejaz & Nejd renamed Saudi Arabia. 1943 - Bruce Springsteen, "The Boss", born. 1986 - Geoff Boycott sacked from Yorkshire Cricket Club, after 24yrs service. 2000 Steve Redgrave gets his 5th gold medal at the Sydney Games.
