So, to summarise...
Licences/marque will b taken care of by Graham, as he will expect 2 make it up in beer revenue.
PLinsurance - other small rallies say £200.
Band - petrol money, say £100 .
Disco - again, say £100.
Toilet hire - others say allow £100.
Advertising - lineage in mags - free.
Sex, drugs etc - free, c/o Blueboy.
God knows wot else - £500!!!
So total cost = £1,000.
ie we need 100 attendees @ £10 per head to break even.
Must b open 2 all, not just BMers.
I say, we go 4 it!
But has 2 b money up front.
Lets see a bit of interest, folks.
PS - any stallholders usually pay a small fee to enter, to be offset against costs.
Who is going to manage it and make sure tickets aren't duplicated?
I say the person doing the tickets should try and sell 100. Then once 100 have been sold, confirm it and start purchasing things.
Make sure your figures are accurate though, obtain quotes I mean (Particularly with insurance!).
Blimey, it took me a while to find this thread in the BM archives
I've finally got the pics of the Buffalo Stampede to see the rally site (and The Angler Pub) downloaded showing the pub (cosy and well stocked), the field (nice, big and flat) and the very big, wet, fast flowing river Ure to the bottom of the field.
The field is abso-bloomin-lutely huge and (apart from the odd cow pat) looks very clean and just right for pitching several hundred tents on it.
Pics can be found at the Stampede event - http://www.bikermatch.co.uk/sites/bm/events/event_detai...ent_id=312
After chatting with Graham, it looks like a lot of the issues can easily be resolved (including the PL insurance).
My vote is for getting the first BM rally on the go so let's get some interested parties going for various jobs.
Before we even start thinking about this, we need to know if we can even make the required numbers to make it viable. Can anyone/everyone who is keen on going (whether on bike, trike, car, double decker bus or cadging a lift in Ghosties helicopter) make some indication if they're up for attending, please? We need to make the 400 attendees mark.
Cheers peeps
BlueBoy
To save me trawling through this thread, any indication of when this proposed event will take place? Only i need to get my leave booked pronto and i would like to go.
Many thanks

3rd weekend in August looks good as well.
400 is a maximum figure that was being mooted when we were chatting to Graham @ The Angler and the assembled throng though that, with so many BM members, this would be a reasonable target figure. What do you have in mind?
I have been in touch with Jim, who organises Stormin the Castle every Year and have asked him for some organisational input/advice (still waiting, although I only emailed him 10 mins ago - impatient, or what lol)
I would be gobsmacked if 400 turned up (but well pleased!).
Only a handful of BMers have shown any interest so far.
Maybe 20 - 30 might go, with another 100 non-members found thru advertising and word of mouth.
I can't see anyone south of the M4 corridor making it - too far.
But some of the best rallies are small, cosy affairs.
Aim small to start with - avoids disappointment.
My suggestion would be bm members and guests only until a month before event then open to all, that way we can make up numbers if need be.400 is a max figure, only 200 needed to break even.first rough ideas being ticket price 20-25 for weekend to include all entertainment with hog roast and drink on sat eve.
Those of us who met up at proposed venue thought;
Fri eve, couple of bands, smallscale start, sat, games day, ideas already but all suggestions gratefully recieved, hogroast bands ect on sat nite, ride out sunday.Sun nite marshalls party, mon cleanup by marshalls.(volunteers required).
As nobody else seems brave enough to mention feel i need to,cars will be limited due to parking restrictions, would estimate 25-30 max so maybe reserved parking only on first to buy ticket basis????sure with some forethought and planning, car sharing, drop off ect all bm members can be accomadated. Also, and this is not personal opinion but condition of pl insurance,no under 16s to be allowed. This is due only to a deep, wide and very fast flowing river at the end of propised camping site.Hopefully there has been enough notice given for people to be able to arrange child care.Would ask that people do not try and 'cheat'on this condition as all it would take is one 15 year old to cause the entire event to be closed down and screw up any chance of further rallys.Certain people are calling in a lot of favours and putting in a lot of time to make this a success so please respect this. Also a commitee is to be formed so anyone prepared to help in this respect or on the marshalling side please let yourselves be known.
I guess there will be other rallies on, or around, the 3rd weekend in August (we are talking 22nd/23rd, aren't we?), but this will be worth it if enough people get involved.
My thought is that an event like this with a field full of BM members will be a blast.
Anyone else interested?
Cheers big red and julie(although i do believe your name was top of list anyway JJ )
C'mon peeps,is anyone out there interested in helping/attending? much was said about about a BM rally but now evreyone seems to have gone quiet(not like you lot!!!)
If this is to be an event for evreyone we need to hear your ideas please.
Great Karey thanks but is that interested in attending or helping?
Blue and i have been discussing possible stallholders and thought it would be a great idea if we could have bm member stallholders.
Catering and bar are going to be contracted due to liscencing ect but open house on anything else.I would be willing to read tarots and runes if anyone would be interested and my sister is a qualified reiki practitioner. If anyone out there has a talent/small buisness(and we know you ARE out there)and would be willing to run a stall(poss just for sat)please let us know.Wannabe, maybe you could bring some of your jewellery? Also we need to know what people would be interested in and what you would like to see on offer.
I'll defo be up for attending , setting up and maybe a bit of marshalling .
We also discussed the last weekend of April as another possible date , getting in at the start of the rally season would be good as all the major ones seem to be mid-season .
Perhaps Matt would consider supplying badges for the rally , with BM's name to the rally recieving free publicity : BikerMatch Rally
web address on fliers .
I will try to get a meeting set up with Tim & Kate from Beermonsters MCC , so we can get tips/advice from experienced rally orginisers(13 Handpulled Rallies to date) . (Remember to bring notepad)
