@mat (sic) - maybe its the realism of age & experience! speaking for myself, doing away with the top 20 is a step forward, but i appreciate i'm only one amongst many and wouldnt presume to enforce a situation onto eveybody. mandY
@jackie, you're right-in the greater scheme of things it is trivia, but then compared to life or death, everything is, and the same could be said about posts regarding nights out, favourite music etc. sometimes, the trivia of everyday life helps us cope with the enormity of the terrible things, and at least its got some people expressing opinions (and matt admitting that there are flaws in the system), and that must be a positive thing?
I personally think the site would be better without the top 20 as some members will go to any length to be there odor the karma system but remove the top 20 I'm sure the space could be used for adds which will bring in more cash to the site and promote the bigger BM events like the rally and camps
matt if u are doing tekky thing on the site can we have more coled crayons in chat peeps keep eating them pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and yes u do look nice today very fetching in your little black nummder (and a spell cheker please lol lol lol )
So, back to the voting issue, anyone want to keep the Top 20?
I'm happy to keep the karma as, as Matt says, it can be useful maybe, but I object to the Top 20. If folk don't want it then they need to let Matt know, similarly if they want to keep it and why.
Sorry Kay, that's what I meant, just hadn't put it in because there were already reasons against, just none for keeping the top 20.

Mandy , yes you are right, the trivial things in life do give us a focus, and everybody is entitled to an opinion and to air it, just not sure why it has to be done in such a negative, borderline angry way for some.
IMO the top 20 is not necessary, some folk like it.
Attendees lists are not necessary IMO, but some folk like them.
If you take into account how many active members there are on the site, how do you keep everybody happy, you cant, which is why Matt is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Life evolves around us everyday and yes sometims we have to take stock and decide whether we choose to evolve at the same pace. But surely we can do that without folk getting so wound up about it.
I want the popular members pages to stay. I've just made it very hard (impossible) for someone to cheat their way onto the list now (new topic coming in 5 minutes to explain).
So, with the popular members list being more accurate from now on, do you still want it removing?
For me it's an additional feature for people to browse around... why take away something that isn't causing a problem?
It's also a "game" for some people and it makes them come back every day to see how they are getting on. Sad I know, but each to their own. Just because YOU don't like it, why take away the only thing that might be making someone login everyday?
For me it's the numbers that count... we want people logging in! Being active, doing stuff. The more you take away, the less active the community comes.
I see no good reason to remove the popular members pages now
I would like to keep it, and here's why.
I compare the guys list with the gals list.
And match the No1 guy with the No1 gal, The No 2 guy with the No 2 gal, etc etc
There are some unusual matches, which always brings a smile to my face. Just try it and see!
These are constantly changing, so new smiles every day.

also (sry), 'logging in': There are prob lots of members (like meee) who keep a BM tab open in their browser(?) They may login just the once in the morning, or stay logged in from the day/night before?
