I'm with DC and Kwak to be honest. I'm pretty bored with some of the childishness that I see which is why I don't post that often anymore.
There is a clique forming and I personally don't have a problem with that. People will form their own little groups, it's the nature of a site like this.
What I won't put up with is bullying. And sorry, but when I hear that people are emailing, sending messages on facebook etc in order to rally the troops against someone, I get concerned.
I don't know if people are being put off, but you have to ask what has happened to all the old faces? And why are so many of the new members not posting?
I'm all for serious debate, but I haven't seen a lot recently. I'm also up for a bit of a laugh, but this hobbit stuff is starting to get tedious to be frank.
As far as the bullying question goes, I've come to the decision that the posts made do not constitute bullying. But believe me when I say that if they ever do the perpetrators will be swiftly dealt with.
Well said Geoff, but as one of the ones recently involved in the hobbit/yeti whatever discussions, I have to say ive had a good laugh with that, although it is getting a bit tedious now, but thats the same with anything, it reaches a peak then goes a bit flat.
But you are always going to get this kinda of thing, either on here or any other forums, its just the same as people actually meeting 'for real' and having a bit of banter, some may even call it flirting, whatever, it is human nature.
Maybe one way to 'move on' is to post more new topics and get new discussions started? Of course the hobbit/yeti whatever theme will continue, because thats what some people, at least, want to discuss.
This is an open site where just about anything goes, within reason.
I too was not as active on this site for awhile, as people who know me, know i went through quite a bad patch, but since getting myself back on here and getting to meets/rallies again I can honestly say I am feeling alot better in myself and have met quite a few new friends and will be meeting lots more im sure.
As for bullying.. we all know that this will not be tolerated on this site and Matt would react accordingly. Indeed if anyone feels this is the case, please contact the mods and we will deal with it.
We all have 'off days' and times when we really need some support, I am grateful that I have so many friends, old and new, and as yet, virtual ones, that i can turn to.
PS..im typing this at work, with a very minimised window, so if some of it dont make sense ...sorry.
I personally think, that as a new member I would be more put off by Reading a thread like this than any kind of banter !! Yea you guys may find hobbit/yeti abit boring, but other people don't !! Are we not out here to have fun and a laugh , not to be judged by your sence of humor ?? I find dc's posts personally offending ! All seems stupid to me
A clique (pronounced /ˈkliːk/, in American English also /ˈklɪk/) is an exclusive group of people who share interests, views, purposes, patterns of behavior, or ethnicity.[1] A clique as a reference group can be either normative or comparative. Membership in a clique is often exclusive, and qualifications for membership may be social or essential to the nature of the clique.
I would therfore disagree... We are not exclusive, we do not have any qualifications that need to be filled, anyone can and do join in with that we discuss and arrange both old members and new.
There is a clique forming and I personally don't have a problem with that. People will form their own little groups, it's the nature of a site like this.......I dont class this as a clique, its merely a group of local people bonding a close freindship and im sure that this happens in more than just one area, I for one am glad its happening in my area as i have been onsite for quite a while now and this close bond/freindship has only just started emerging, the more the merrier.
As regards the bullying i would sincerely hope that it NEVER happens on here its wrong and should never be tolerated in any shape or form in chat, forums, real life ar fb or anywhere!!
Geoff I wasnt aware that bullying through fb regarding people on here has or would ever happen, I for one would never be a part of that and I would hope that no1 would tolerate it.
All i say is I hope those that wanna post do, I read most threads, if i find them boring i switch to summat else
regarding old members.....i fink in my opinion that some have met peeps and moved on or they havent the money to pay for this site, for some its just a part of their life at that particular time and have no need to use this site, its like that in real life too not just on here, peeps move on and want different things out of life.
I personally luv the site and the peeps on it, and joining BM has been 1 of the best things I have done as it has lead on2 some many other things for me, all to many and boring to list

Well i've got to agree with DC, Geoff and kwak i'm afraid as I used to post and have banter on here every night until the Yeti/Hobbit/Middle Earther clans began to emerge. I've met most of you over the last year and you're all great people so i'm not judging individuals, just the way the site has developed and every thread no matter how serious gets directed by references to the 'clans'.
*qualifications for membership may be social or essential to the nature of the clique*
Great quote shell and relevant here cos if you don't want to banter about Yetis/Hobbits and Middle Earthers there's little else left to talk about. I remember a long standing female member resurrecting an interesting thread about bikes about a month ago that would have been equally useful to experienced riders and newbies but within an hour it was hijacked with hobbit talk and turned into mush!
Maybe someone should start a fantasy land thread for all the Middle Earthers/Yeti's and Hobbits to chat in amongst themselves and leave the real world to the rest of us!
Well I wasn't going to say anymore on this, but I agree that some threads do turn to 'mush' and although I'm sometimes guilty of doing this, I'm also one of those people who get fed up with it. It's going to happen no matter what, however lets not let it get out of hand.
I do try and get threads back on topic, but they soon go back to 'mush' which is annoying but again, this is the nature of sites like this.
It's a shame if people feel they are unable to renew their subs.. maybe just keep checking in and joining in on meets/rallies etc and in time hopefully you will feel you want to renew your subs again.
Theres nothing to stop anybody starting any new thread irrelevant of topic, and the nature of the beast in my opinion, means that threads go off track, as for finding out detials of when, were and how an event is, surely thats what the event page is for, and usually all details are posted in the first box top of page 1.
I've been on the site since June 2009 and to my recollection this is the 3rd of 4th time these types of disagreements have arisen, and several which i have agreed with about stuff which i would call crap, but ones mans crap is another mans gold, , but i have continued being a member because the friendships i have formed and the folk that i have met and have still to meet by far outways anyting thats not my cup of tea.
I admit to being one that posts crap but i also post my fair share of information and bike related stuff as well, so if more bike related content is what you want then post it, dont moan about it not being there.

Don't get me wrong Karey this site has given me a new lease of life. I've now got loads of new friends that I see or talk to regularly and I get to plenty of meets/ride outs and rallies so it's served its purpose. I just remember 6 months back when I was posting every night cos there was loads of information coming through from the experienced riders on here and as a returning biker it was so useful to me. I've noticed over the past few months the same people dissappearing and being replaced with hobbits, yetis and middle earthers so it's becoming more like Bibo/Twatter/Facebollocks and time for me to find a site thats useful as well as amusing
PS. It was good to meet you at the rally at the weekend even if we did ignore each other for a while
I`m in total agreement with you on that RK,apart from the social aspect of this site it used to be a good place to get help advice and a serious input from other people, but as with most things in life its changed and in my opinion not for the better. Many times over the past year people have been asked to use the chat room if they want the banter but the forums are still full of drivel and it makes you feel that its not worth trawling through all of it in order to find what i want.
sad to say that i wont be renewing either.

Jackie I think you've missed the point. No-one is complaining about not being able to start a new subject, just the fact that there's reams and reams of repetative bo**ocks about you know what! Anyone that isn't from Northern Scotland or Birmingham would certainly find it difficult to participate in most of these conversations and that's coming from me whose shared a bedroom with you and drank till the early hours with a certain big lad from Scotland. As I said earlier you're all great people individually, just a pain in the ar*e on here at times
This site is what YOU make it, if you want to change it then YOU have to set the ball rolling, don't assume that anyone else will do it for you. So instead of you ALL leaving why don't you start a new topic yourself? If you dont give anyone anything to talk about then people will just banter but at least they are still talking to each other.
If someone asks a serious question i.e. RK when he first joined then you will get a lot of serious answers (and some stupid) but if you dont ask you dont get !
And at the risk of upsetting one and all... stop throwing your flippin teddies out of your cots (and this is said in jest and not aimed at anyone at all )
RK think your missing the point as well, nobody is excluded from anything, if you choose not to join in theres nowt i can do about it, as already stated i have said to you and many other folk from all over if you want to attend anything Midlands based ur more than welcome to stay at mine, and theres plenty of stuff on here that doesnt float my boat so i leave well alone.
What i do take exception to and take personally is being called ignorant becuase my opinion differs.
well said FG! lol
And RK... i didn't take offence.
It was good to meet you too, even tho we had a case of
"is it? isn't it?"
Julie...you cant leave!! who will gaffa-tape Ziggy for me?? lol
oops thats me taking this off topic... sorrry...
back on thread...
I want to rant about the bloody office im working in..apparently its 'nice' outdoors, but our windows are all covered up because of the new build going on about 20ft away!! And just getting a text off a mate saying shes off out on her bike as its 'lovely' out there!!!
will still be available with my gaffa tape! and will still see you about.
And I have started loads of topics!
This is not a teddy chucking moment, just moving on.
Always enjoyed being a bit of an outsider to be honest...it often means that you can sit quietly and observe the goings on without being involved....and as I recently found out, walking away from the whole MC/MCC world has been excellent for that, but anyway, I digress, as per...
last time I was here... a few months back .... similar discussions were abounding...about people feeling left out of in jokes and the like.. and from my persepctive, I can see both sides. I look at a post and see the 'usual' banter going on, using expressions I do not understand, and therefore I don't bother reading through the whole post...my brain kinda shuts off when I see it. But, do I feel left out? No, not really... and if I was bothered at all, I would make an effort to find out what language these people are talking, but I'm not, so I don't, I just leave them to it.
Sometimes.... and as others have said, this is not aimed at any one inparticular - I do notice that posts started by (for want of a better word) members of the perceived 'clique' get far more interest and response than those from 'excluded' people. It might be that quality is better than quantity, but sometimes it would be nice to see a decent response when you do make the effort to create a topic - and not 'banter' full of that strange language? It could be that that is the key why a lot of us do not bother to create topics? Maybe we feel that we will be ignored, or have the topic be hijacked?
Like I say, just my observation.... and I will wait in interest to see if anyone actually reads this, or responds directly to it, because that too, to be fair, is unusual too (being an outsider n all).
what a cracking sunny day it is out ther and im stuck in me house with workmen/ladies coming in and out replacing gas and electricity meters
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
