As buzz says the fence is a fair way from the cones, the test centre in leicester has a chain link fence so if the one Minnie was going to use is the same I assume it could be mended within an hour, No doubt it has to go through lots of government departments to get approval to get it mended they sure like their red tape

The learner lost control on the swerve & crashed into a fence & a stone wall...I'm assuming this is the same incident (3 sept)...but the centre was still shut this morning http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/9908021.Darwe...t/?ref=rss

It looks like its the investigation thats going to take the time not just to repair a bit of fencing...

i just read the artical . she was training to get up to standard for the test. we allways start our students of by walking the course while explaining exactly what to do and when and why . then get the student to practice at slow speed approx 10-15 mph , then slowly but surly as confidence and ability builds so does the speed . only the student and the instructor really knows how this excercise was carried out on this day in question .. so minni please dont worry or pannick about the swerve , its a walk in the park

Cheers buzz. I'm not panicing really. Just really annoyed that I've got to go through it at all. My problem is I don't have respect for what the test expects you to do....but it's a trial that has to be got through. I'm p***ed off that's all, lol
I still don't know if my test date/time and/or location will happen as it was booked...I'll have a word with my instructor in the morning

Minnie. The swerve is not as bad as our mind tells us it is. When you do it on the test day, you will say to yourself, "Was that it". It is all over in a flash.
A lot of us have seen you ride and I think you should have no problem at all.

minnie my only gripe with the whole thing is that great britian is the only country that listens to brussels . no other eu country has implemented this test as far as my knowledge . but hey one day when you need to take immediate avoidence of something infront of you , hopoefully your training will kick in instantly , and obstical will be avoided .. where as our european friends will probably pannick and freeze and plough straight into it ????

My test has been cancelled and re-booked for 3 weeks time. It's a Thursday. I chose a Tuesday cos that's my day off so I have to go through that direct.gov website booking system again getting a little bit cold, sweaty about what's looming in January now I'm p****d off at the delay cos I had the bit between my teeth & just want this over & done with. ...but I've got a couple of Tuesdays when I can meet up with the ladies who ride and cackle so we'll just ride around the Dales & fells & stuff our faces. I'll be able to have a mega-moan and they'll set me right Sod, it I just want my Tuesdays to my riding over the fells and stuffing my face days with the other ladies

Mod 1 test day was today.....great big fat 'F' day Only managed 46 kph through the speed trap BUT....all the stuff I was really worried about I managed fine; getting confused by the cones, slalom, fig of 8, u-turn....no minors at all Also managed all my stops fine....so I'm not crying really. I'm feeling rather positive and a little tiny bit chuffed at the bits that went ok considering this was the first time I've ridden on a test site.....this was the pilot study for the real thing Didn't get to have a go at the swerve but I'm not stressing about that....there's so much space on the site compared to where I've been practicing The damn irony is that on the ride home I was taking bends on the A6 at 50 mph, not 50 kph! Sods law lol

Well, I've been for my Mod 1 this morning, but I failed

I was doing so well too! Got up to speed on my emergency stop and did that fine. But I clipped a cone while doing the avoidance and that was that

Not sure If I want to try again or just wait and do DA next year??

Dont let it get you down Lisa sit back think about the test and find out time scale as its stating to get icy now so may be worth waiting and going down the DA route

Oh no Lisa ((((HUGS))) So sorry hunni...... But..... ME TOO!!! Mine was rebooked for this morning....vile vile weather. Wet surface. No faults at all, did 51kph through the trap but too much rear brake & locked up the back wheel...not that bad but too much. Bahhhhhh!!!! Could kick myself cos I opened my gob and said I know what I did, I know it's a fail. The examiner wasn't saying anything and looking back he seemed to be deliberating & I wonder if he was considering using his discretion cos I took my foot off the back brake & re-applied it and actually ended up doing a nice controlled fast stop I've already re-booked but got to change my Mod 2 booking. The soonest available is 10 January!!!!! This is starting to look like a real no-hoper All the slots have been booked up by the riding schools & my instructor doesn't do that so I feel really annoyed about that....this is really stressful & discouraging I know where you're coming from Lisa. I've got a contingency plan to buy my next bike, get it lowered and do either the 400 test or 600 test after January -I've never claimed to be or want to be an all weather biker and I'm so fed up of making myself go out when my instincts are telling me it's stupid & dangerous- all because of this friggin deadline we're trying to meet. I can't use a bike school bike cos of my height.....oooh I just don't know what to do for the best .....and it's costing me so much money

Oh no Minnie

I'm a bit like you. I don't particularly want to be an all weather biker either, and I've put pressure on myself to get my test passed before the rules change in January. But It's no fun riding in the cold and rain like we had this morning.

I'm quite pleased with how well I did today though. (apart from the obvious fail). I've never even had a practice at the full course so, considering it was all new to me, I didn't do too bad. I think the fact that it was raining made me a bit nervous that i was going to do a sideways skid when i swerved so I didn't swerve quite far or fast enough.

Oh well, you live and learn.

Maybe I'll have to see if buzz_sp1 is still offering those lessons?
