I remember when I was 10 and I'm a fair bit older than TC.
PML @ making 16 yr old kids go indoors at 9pm, can ya imagine it? I remember when I was 16, many moons ago, my parents would have a riot on their hands if they imposed a 9pm curfew on me and I was brunged up strict like.
i did have a chalk slate!!! an we were littlesods win airguns rifles crossbows but we didnt mess in public having plenty of fields an quarrys to do our shooting an mess about out of the way!!an left alone all day without worryin parents wonderin where we were!
I had to laugh, in an interview on the local news a 15 year old boy was stopped in the street and asked if he would be sticking to the curfew..of which he politely said "No bloody chance". And the interviewer asked him "what if your parents said you had to", with that he pointed them to an older gentleman and said "ask him".
So the interviewer asked the gentleman.."excuse me sir are you this young mans dad" and he said "yes". "And what do you think of the curfew" they asked, to which he replied..... "I pay my taxes, why do I have to look after him 24/7 when he's out on the street he's someone elses problem"

I did 11 years with various T.A outfits and ended up at Kingstanding.
It takes me beyond anger to see things like this. Vandalism is disrespectful at the best of times but the logic behind destroying memorials to people that, lets face it, were probably only 3 or 4 years older than the little scrotes that did the damage really is beyond words. Especially when we consider thier sense of duty, not only for thier country but also for thier direct community.
Its funny how we all pat ourselves on the back for all the so called social advances we have made since either war but I think we have lost the sense of pride and community along the way. Nobody bothers with anybody else anymore. When I was a nipper I could do nothing wrong in my village at all because before I got home my parents would know about it. That was enough to keep me straight.
I despair I really do....I'd love to say that a few public executions would help but perhaps giving them a WWI trenchcoat, a Winchester rifle and dumping them in the middle of a war zone to fend for themselves may....just may give them a little taste of life in their victims time of life.
Anyway I'm fuming now.......anyone got a spare cat I can boot up the starfish?
Right I need to Rant......
To cut a very long story short...I have lived in my flat for 18 months now. It is a two bedroom flat with no outside space and with two kids it is very cramped. Because of this I made the decision not to have a bedroom of my own so that the kids could have their own space. I therefore have been sleeping on the sofa.
The whole reason for renting a private flat smaller than my needs was because the council told me if I rented a three bedroom I wouldn't have the points to be offered a council place.
Well this morning I had a letter from the council to explain that the system is now changing. They no longer use a points system or take into account I have been waiting for a place for 5 years. As I am only one bedroom short the chances of being offered a council place is virtually nil.
I cannot afford to rent a three bedroom place privately now as the prices have gone up so much and I refuse to give up working just so that I get it all payed for me.
I feel as if I have spent the last 5 years living in bad conditions and now have nothing to show for it. I don't want hand outs I just want to have a settled life for my kids. And to sleep in a bed would be nice.

More constructively, have you considered contacting your local MP? Seriously. Make a complete nuisance of yourself. Letters, phone calls, emails, turn up at his/her surgeries.
Local papers? Even if just a series of letters to them. Totally understand if you wouldn't want to actually be the subject of an article in them - I certainly wouldn't!
You are precisely the sort of person "we" (the "system") are SUPPOSED to be encouraging and supporting... not kicking in the bleedin' teeth!
To be honest now they having handed over control of council housing to private landlords, shouting and screaming isn't gonna get you very far because there is no one company to complain to, I think I need to get myself a new passport and apply again under the guise of Uma Nickabollocoff, polish pole dancer.

This is England, FFS. A nation founded from a race of warrior artists. When the Romans deserted their Britons in 400AD, they hired us to move in and look after the place. We did a grand job, fending off all manner of invaders and establishing quite a society here.
Since 1066, we've been ruled by foreign nobility and enslaved by their increasingly outrageous policy. People can't even tell the difference between British and English these days.
You say kids are causing havoc, you say foreigners are taking all the jobs and scamming off the benefits system, you say the government is oppressing you..... Get up off your lazy arris and do something about it, then. It's really nothing to do with those people - It's happening because we are letting it.
In France they had riots over such things. Here we take the absolute minimum time to electronically sign an online petition that will get ignored anyway. The British stiff upper lip does not work any more. People can screw you over and laugh in your face about it because they know you'll do nothing more than complain and get on with what little life you have.
Are you really going to sit there and let them?

Seriously though - many families are going to be affected by this... how they can suddenly decide that those patiently waiting their turn on the waiting lists for years upon years will now have no position beggars belief.
