It seems to me that the most cause of the trouble is the "top" 20 why not do "featured profiles" instead, maybe of those that are less active on the site, it may possibly encourage them to be more active!

and whilst changing bm why let standard members be able to log into the chat room at all , can that be stopped ?
I can remember, when I first joined BM, using the Top 20 lists as a guide to those members most likely to know what was going on!! So..if I was looking at the events list I was more likely to put my name down (as a lone newbie female!) if people from the "list" were also attending. It proved right too!! Hence, I'd be for keeping it Matt
Would it not be possible to opt out of either:
1) the top twenty list, or
2) karma altogether,
or both of the above?
As I really dont wanna be there and hope I am not now
