Fair point cissystar and i agree the way some topics go, may well indeed stop people from posting or starting topics.
Maybe if we feel an important thread is going off track we could politely remind people to get it back on track and therefore find the answers we're looking for.

I'm not saying anyone is EXCLUDED, simply that the threads are dominated by Y/ME/H crap that only certain people can relate to. Like you i've got an open house and i've already had lots of peeps from here stay over on their travels or come to one of my get togethers.
Long standing members are leaving because there's nothing left to keep them here. I've seen loads of new threads immediately hijacked and turned into yet another stream of Yeti/Hobbit talk that to a lot of people isn't worth paying for!

Karey remind your boss that under the Management of Health & Safety at Work regs you're entitled to natural light in your office regardless of any works going on outside! Maybe they don't want you distracted by all those sweaty construction workers

I personally have no interest in any shape or form on bike racing(i even watched some of it the other nite to see wot the crack woz) so wen these threads are on there I dont even open them or if its being disscussed in chat I just sit back and watch

I started the middle earther thing... It was said in jest as banter at the time was north and south and a few in the middle felt left out so i came up with the middle earth thing .... since then it has grown to what it is now ..... At no time is it meant to exclude bully or become a clique just a bunch of people havin a laugh ..... I guess with all the PC rules we are not allowed to do this anymore for fear of upsetting others .....so with that said I will not comment any further in threads.
You will see me at meets and if you feel like talking to the one who caused this latest disagreement feel free to say hi.

Been away for a week ... so just read last few pages of this thread.
As a new member who has been through cancer and all sorts of other shit the last year, coming on this site, has given me my sence of humour back again.
I had no idea what a hobbit/middle earther etc was all about ... so I asked and just thought it was such a giggle and although yes chil-like and mabe pointless ... the fact that it is making some people giggle and forget the drudgery of life for the moment ... there is nothing wrong in being silly and if you read the 'banter' it includes ... ALL peeps from ALL over ... that doesnt seem exclusive to me.
I have at times not understood quite a few threads on the site ... if I want to know more, I ask (and have never felt stupid for asking) or I have moved on to another thread.
I feel sad that as a new memeber that has been made to feel so welcome by some members that I now feel like a child being 'told off' by angry parents cos they dont feel the same way.
RK ... you amongst others have made me feel so welcome and offered your home up to me for visits etc ... as has BJ and Paul and many others ... however, they took the time to say hello and draw me into the threads .... DC ... Im afraid to say you have never even said hello ... even when I was a proper newbee ... the poeple you have 'ranted' about, are the people who HAVE included me and made me feel welcome.
There are many threads for many different people on site ... surely, its all about CHOICE and personnal taste.
I have arranged a night up North and have pm several people I dont know and have never chatted to ... inviting them and informing them of the event and sorting sleeping arrangements out. I have learnt that from the Middlend bunch ... by the hospitality they offered me.
I will be re-knewing my membership in May and am greatful for the banter that goes on on some of the threads as well as the informative threads ... as, some days ... its been one of the few things that have made me giggle!
I dont want to offend ANYONE with this post ... but a lot has been said about 'newbees' so wanted to put how this 'newbee' felt when reading the last few pages on here :(
P.S. Im more put off by 'offensive' language than silly language.
