Ric you thought cissy seems to have disappeared and might well have gone to bed oblivious to the development of this thread and when she reads it tomorrow she'll kick TC' s arse!
By the way, Ric... further to what I said in my PM.... I think there are only certain breeds you can use... It is also illegal in all but three countries - one guy did it recently but got his head stuck!
Thats what attracted me to BM in the 1st place ...when i joined in march/april i asked 'whats happening to this thread?' and was politely told by RD & WB that wandering off topic is a normal and natural trait , understanding this has made my membership a pleasure!...if i receive a negative response to my post wtf , who cares i move on and enjoy the banter thank god we're individuals and can take a licking and laugh at it . exc

I was told the same exc and yes i've had a couple of put downs for inappropriate posts but the banter has been the best part of my membership so long may it reign
Agrees Exc.... I also received similar advice when I joined. Now I take no notice whatsoever of negative responses to my posts, all I can say is that when I type something I never knowingly set out to upset anyone and cannot be held responsible for every single person's reaction.
As I said before, the witty banter on the threads makes for enjoyable reading!

Yeah, but I talk a load of old codswallop
For what it's worth - I tend to look at the Events Calendar for the details of the event and the Events Forum for chat both before and after the event.
Whenever I've organised a meet, I've tried to remember to ask either on the event listing or on the topic for people to PM me if there's anything else they want to know and when newer members who I'm not already chatting with sign up for the event, I always try to drop them a line beforehand, so they know approximately where we're going to be, or what bikes/cars to look out for etc.
Ultimately, it's chat and banter that keeps a forum lively and ensures that people frequent it. If a forum is too rigid with its cries of "off topic" or over-zealous moderation, folk soon get bored of it or wander off elsewhere.
I have a few forums I use for various areas of interest that are highly moderated. Chat is not permitted. There are consequently very few repeat visitors. People come, ask their question, get their answer and are never seen again. Sometimes they don't even hang around long enough for their question to be answered, spit their dummy at "being ignored" and flounce off The forums are boring, so the members tend to only check them every few days, or when they need some information.
It's been said on here before and there have been complaints that it should ALL be bike-related stuff on the forums. Personally I think that would be a mistake. It's through chatting and banter that "RL" friendships are formed and it's the chat that keeps certain people renewing their membership, myself included.
Here endeth the Wannabe Waffle
I love this site its made such a difference to my life!
Please dont spoil it. I know some posts are irritating just dont read them read the ones you want to read. Things that may irritate you may be the making of the day for someone else.
I read most threads and not really found anything personally aimed at people I think things have been taken to heart too easily and maybe thats because that person is going though some sort of emotional turbine So come on No more throwing rattles out of prams just get a group hug going!.
