I deffo do not like the bike logo - posted 17th @ 12:06
and, if you aren't using a motorbike in the logo then the word motorbike, or motorcycle, ought to be used. IMHO
Think the bike design is great, like you say Matt, you just need to tweak the colours/shading to polish it up a bit. Still think it should have the wording underneath like your original idea, but motorcycling as opposed to biking
I've been reading with interest re this logo idea and have to agree that the figures don't go with the biker image - dare I say they make me think of supermarkets for some obscure reason! Also, what Matt says about the bike being too 'flat' - he's right, that image, though a good one, is more about the technical image of a bike than an artistic one. In addition, bikes are about riding, speed, sharing the experience etc, and this bike is static - it's saying nothing.
As an artist - I am one for my sins - I would draw an image of a bike with a biker and pilly on it coming at me from around 45 degrees , maybe leaning slightly, and using visual representations of speed such as hair flying wildly (his and/or hers) and positions of riders , pilly could be holding on to the rider or bike, or having an absolute Yeehaa moment! support this by some background movement and that would grab interest. BM could be incorporated into twin headlights, or wheels . I can't do this in computer generation, but I can draw it freehand if anyone's interested....or maybe someone else can do it digitally!
For everyone to remember my idea's are sugestions for Matt to work on,, any of you fellow great unwashed can do the same,,, idea's as simple sketches put forward can be picked up on,,,,, thats all ive done, opened my mouth and backed up my comments with sugestions...
Have a go
Mike I'm glad you said 'fellow' unwashed lol
I may be ok at freehand but not computer drawing.
I love your suggestion on page 11 , posted Jan 13th @ 16:48, just lose the hearts, maybe a B and an M in their place?
Edited:
LOL I've just seen your other suggestions, on your profile, soz, you beat me to it. You already did one with the letters on.
I think that instead of you all working out the end product get the basics sorted first.......what do you want the logo. To represent.....ie if it is a and it is a" corporate image" in all senses of the word what do you want into imply as is it dating or is it community....
Now as has been said time and time again a lot of the members come here and probably a few other sites looking for the elusive right one ...........but quickly realise with the cameraderie and the meets and the friendships that are built, some far stronger than your normal friends from home, that it is much more than their first impressions
.......and any of the smut who come along thinking its fresh prey for the flesh bed don't usually hang around or are Sussex pretty early on and told to foxtrot Oscar....
So my point decide what it is first then design the logo which best represents the future of it...... 1. It has to represent what the site is. 2. It has to be easy on the eye not paint an aiming mark saying dating site member ....or else the most will not wear any merchandise t-shirts etc. 3. Simplicity- if it's too complicated or multicoloured it is hard to produce as a marketing design for key rings t shirts, banners etc. 4. Cost and effect......companies spend tens of thousands on designs not always successful ...remember it has to please the eye and stand out from the rest in a positive way not a "look at that it's horrendous" ....unforgettable for the wrong reasons......and breath...........rant complete
The logo has to represent the whole of its online community,,, needs to look good as a badge, on a tee shirt,, stickers banners.
It cant be sexist but needs to represent the core that ty's every thing together,, ''' the motorcycle''', it must symbolise togetherness friendship, companionship without being too focused,,, you would like people to know you as a BM member and part of a social group rather than just some one in a dating agency,,, colours should represent either, country, club/site, or indicate harmony between sexes
At the end of the day V , must deside, based on any work put forward by us or the hobbits,, all advice is being listened to and acted on, lets hope it spurs this network of friends on and encourages more to join us,,,
Hi Guys and Gals!
Without trawling through 15 pages of posts, how are you getting on with this - pretty much advanced or still need advice?
If I can help in anyway, I am a freelance designer and do quite a bit of technical illustration and graphic design so if you need any help just let me know.
I also have my own vinyl cutter and heat presses so could advise you on the suitability of your design when transferred to other mediums.
If I get some time I will have a look through your posts anyway as always interested in what ideas people are coming up with!
Johnny, My designer said something along the lines of "Matt, your website is impossible to design for. Not only does the site have multiple identities but it's impossible to get everyone happy at the same time".
:-)
PurpleBetty - would be great if you could scribble something down? I like your idea but hard to visualise. My designer could "digitise" it from your drawing maybe.
GreyGra, glad you like it. Took long enough to make :-D
Sandi and everyone else - the word "biking" will be replaced with "Motorcycling". Let's forget about wording completely for now, that's the "final touches" we can fix in seconds once the DESIGN is sorted.
Mike, thanks for all your work. For anyone who can't make images digitally, please scribble down your SIMPLE ideas and email to me (PM me for my email address). Don't make it complex and in 50 different colours though. Thanks
TC, happy to see you back online mate. Not seen you around much (unless I've been blinded by work, not really reading the forums). Anything you can scribble down on paper, scan and email - or make digitally (in Photoshop) would be great, thanks
FYI to all, I've been in hospital past 2 days for tests on my back. I'm wearing a big stupid plaster-cast corset thing now so I can't come online much, it's not comfortable at all. 2 weeks like this I've got :-( Sorry but the logo thing will be picked up in 2 weeks time on my side
Just an idea can some one take the jelly baby figures and put what looks like a front wheel and head lamp with handle bars on it maybe in one solid colour or in lines.....I reckon it could work??? It says it all......as I am being too serious I have to put something ridiculous as well... Nope I think not...I will get a row from the mafia...
ah ok just looked at the link, I like the idea of the wheels but not quite so detailed....any thoughts just basic representations if you know what I mean, not so life like detailed.
