Worked my arse off installing a management information system at work. Just as they were going to take me on permanently, the bosses mate shows up looking for work. And I get the bullet!

I don't think it's fair that he's had the money deducted but is still considered liable

Its like any debt, till the money is handed over to who the debt is owed to, your liable

The bit that is unfair on the person who has to pay the money, is that the CSA force that person into deductions from source (the employer). If the employer is deducting the money, why don't the CSA do something to force the company to cough up.
The CSA create more problems than they cure and are playing with peoples lives.

Oooh the CSA, how I hate them! In my experience absolutely soddin useless, my blood boils just thinking about this agency. My dealings with them made me ill so I gave up and then they had the audacity to write and tell me (when kids turned 18) that my ex wasn't liable for any further payments. Given I've never had any money in over 10 years I found the letters incredibly insulting! Bl**dy joke!

The bit that is unfair on the person who has to pay the money, is that the CSA force that person into deductions from source... this only happens if the parent who should be paying doesnt.

And the reason that it cannot do more is because just as they have to take a parent who is paying to court to get money, they have to do it to the employer to if they dont pay the big issue I have known, is employers taking it from wages, not paying it & then paying it back to the employee when they leave a job.

Karen ... you do know the debt is still there & you can ask for it to be chased still ? Its a priority debt & the 7 year law does not apply

Shell thanks for the advice, but given they were unable to do anything before I doubt very much they can do anything now!

I am so bl**dy livid!!!!
Visited my parents today and they told me of someone calling them at lunch time from a call centre, reckoning they had an account with SKY. Everytime they said 'no we don't' and hung up, this person rang back, and kept on doing so for almost 2 hours.

Then at 5.00 this guy called again - dad answered, said what he'd said before and hung up....when it rang again, I answered - he didn't like that!

This was a fraudster , not a call centre worker - trying to coerce bank details out of elderly and vulnerable people. .. my mum and dad!!! When I asked him his name he refused to tell me, instead, threatened to do vile things to my parents...B*S*ARD!!! He had a silky, creepy voice that wouldn't have been out of place in a horror movie - made me feel sick!

Only cowardly bullies hide behind phones, scaring those who need protecting the most. It's taken me 3 hours to convince my parents that this creep won't come looking for them, that he's probably (sadly) moved on to his next would be victim.

What a bloody world we live in.

Bloody hell that's rotten! Might be worth reporting it to the police and/or getting in touch with your local paper to warn others! Hope your parents are ok......

Tell the caller that the call is being recorded, and that his number is being traced - that will instantly ensure he hangs up!

Thanks blackberry & XK

I called the police and BT. Police don't consider it a criminal matter - yet, BT wanted paying for a service to block withheld numbers....as if they don't charge enough already!!!

M&D know they can call me any time day or night and I'll be there in 15 mins!

PB maybe you could buy your parents a whistle to blow down the phone when the caller won't take no for an answer, that will get rid of the creeps?

Ta for the idea Sandi - I've got a whistle from when I worked in prison - works a treat too - will drop it over at theirs tomorrow!

I'm thinking of getting one for the market researchers who call me then don't speak until I've said 'hello' half a dozen times. I'm on the *TPS list so I know it's only MRs who will call me. When they finally respond to my 'hello' I tell them 'if it's MR I'm not interested', instead of them saying 'ok, thanks', they just slam the bleddy phone down, near on deafening me further. Busterds! *Telephone Preference Service

Good idea jp - trouble is I've only just managed to get them to change their phone from a dial to push button!! they're really not into 'new fangled' technology at all. But I've a mate who's an IT whizz, he may be able to sort something, or know of a phone like this that's easy to operate.

cheers!

I know what you mean by your last post betty , but have you thought about a caller display phone & if no number is there then they just dont answer it ?

It was what we did with my gran when she was alive, as she had something similar happen

You could also consider a device like this: http://www.truecall.co.uk/index.html trueCall is the complete solution to all types of nuisance phone call - telemarketing, silent calls, calls from overseas call centres, fax calls, robocalls, market researchers, malicious calls, misdials, wrong numbers and recorded message calls.trueCall is about the size of a paperback book. It plugs into your phone line at home and checks every call you receive before letting your phone ring.Patented technology, designed and developed in the UK! It is not free but seems to have have good reviews in the press. It might also be worth looking at the Nuisance Call Advice section on that website to see if it offers any new advice. Good luck!
