Music has the ability, to calm and us, inspire us, and effectively re-model how we experience the 'now.' But can it re-charge us whilst we go through a period of mourning?
One would hope so, but here's the conundrum:
What say if we are in mourning because our favourite music collection had been lost by a dozy filly? One of those internet dating disaster meets. A filly who instead of placing your boxed c.d. collection back where it came from in the car rather places it next to the passenger's door and then doesn't remain in the car for the rest of her life? Oops.
So not only has my favourite collection gone, but also that late singer was the fantasy love of my life. So what music could sooth me now? Any music played would remind me that I once had something better to play. A Gordian knot.
So for now I'll simply hum my favourite track recorded by the greatest of all time - the one for whom I mourn - obviously Maria Callas.
But I'm not one for wallowing in self-pity. I'll play some 'Skrewdriver' in order to kick me back into normality. Is the late I.S.D. now writing music for the angels? I suspect so.
