I was just about to let rip on here, about neighbours who have reported to the council my garden, when I got a second phone call from the Estate Manager telling me that he thinks it wasn't a complaint but a request on my behalf to get me some help with my garden!
I'm still pretty off cos I can do my own asking thank you very much. In fact I did contact the council about how I'm struggling with it, there must be 40 foot of it at the back then the front and sides, most of it weeds. It kills me to keep up with it all.
I told the council, when I viewed this property, that I couldn't tackle all of the garden. I've got sciatica and Crohns disease, which means pain in one form or another and gardening makes it worse.
When I said I'm finding it difficult and is there any way they could do it for me I was told I don't meet the criteria which are I have to be claiming Incapacity Benefit, be disabled or over 60. None of which applies to me. I was also told 'if you can't manage maybe you should be in a smaller house'
I don't live at Buck House FFS! It' s a 2 bed semi, it's the garden that's too big not the house.
Anyone got a goat I can borrow?
Inform the neighbours of your difficulty, and say that if they lent a hand, you'd give them tea and cake.
...or get the lazy elephant to roll his sleeves up!
The neighbour knows of my health issues and the 'lazy elephant' did the gardening a little while ago, it doesn't need doing yet, but with this bleddy rain it soon will.
I can't afford to give folk tea and cake, I'd have sorted something out if I could afford to 'pay' someone.
Have you thought of offering to let someone use it as an allotment Sandi? I know of one or two people in the same situation as yourself, and that's exactly what they've done.
It's a good two way thing, as allotments are in short supply, so someone gets to grow their own veggies, and you get a well tended garden, and possibly a few fresh cabbages, carrots etc left by your door!!
Yes, it works really well HRC as I've seen for myself. I didn't know about the landshare website though, so will keep that for future reference. The two people I know who did this, simply put an advert in the local shops windows, and as you say, it's a win, win situation.
due to brussels and our countrys links with the eu , and the 3rd directive on motorcycle licencing . before january i need to get rid of our 500cc direct access bikes and buy 600 cc bikes . my students will now not want to hire my 125 cc bikes to pass there full licence on because from january it will mean all they can ride is a 125 , from january you will have to be 24 not 21 to be allowed to do das (not a bad thing) . they now introducing a new step up class ie over 125 and below 600 or 25/35 kw (ish) , they are abolishing the 2 year automatic qualification , you will have to re test for each class wanted . and i have to now get all my a2 instructors qualified by the dsa to teach the step up class .. we are a voluntry school , we charge next to nothing for our services .. and this is gonna cost £1,000s . BUT WOT ANNOYS ME MOST , if you go to france, spain , and probably other eu member countrys ,, you see 14 year old kids with , no helmet, no number plate , no rear light , you see familys 3 up ,, even with the mother carrying a baby ... and the authoritys there just let it go ....... rant over thank you
I can well understand your frustration Buzz, the recurring costs are what made it impossible for me to carry on with my learning.
I'm well sick of all the changes they keep introducing, I often wonder why the powers that be don't just announce the abolition of bikes altogether!
Buzz, this is exactly what us current 125 learners are up against too. I've got to pass my test this year so I can still qualify for the 2 year automatic qualification for a bigger bike More and more hoops for us to jump through to pass - (and knowing THEM, that's exactly the kind of stupid thing we will have to do on our bikes!) yet no restrictions on learner car drivers
sandi try and find a local training school run by volunteers. to give you an idea we charge £330 for cbt/mod1/mod2 inc hire of 125cc bike . this is every sunday for unlimited training. ie untill you pass . other expenses on top of that are the test fees and fuel for the bike you hire . no extra fees if you fail (only test fee again)
voluntry schools can do these prices because all we need to do is cover costs . you will find that your training is not rushed either because were in it for road safety not profit ..
Thanks for the tip Buzz but I won't be able to follow up on it, I've been unemployed almost 7 years and these days I just about manage to pay for my food and bills. I've never been so hard up.
Sandi I think thats the way they would like it to go , abolition of bikers and good luck with the job hunting
Buzz I wished you lived nearer I also have to pass my test this year , but at least my training school allows me to pay per lesson for DAS but even so sometimes means i have to skip a few
