The Brass Monkey run started in 1994 and the rideout was always on Jan 1st but is now organised to raise money for Rainbows Children's Hospice in Loughborough, we hold the run now on Jan 2nd if its not a workday or the first Sunday in Jan if it is.
The reason we don't hold the run on the 1st anymore is because we can usually raise more money for the charity. It's recognised as one of the main New Years bike runs in the UK, Rainbows staff collect money from bikers in buckets. Free tin badges are given.
