Very well, hence to the drop-in centre I do go, then. But be mindful, for ever covetous of thine treasures art thy brothers and fellows.... And the perfect way for me to make a decent wage in commission!!

Treasures? Be there treasure hereabouts?! *puts pirate costume on, on the offchance that Capn Jack should make an appearance, fancying a little "parley"*

Oddly enough, I have played Captain Jack several times - twice by popular demand at a local nightclub. Second time was Pirate Night and I won the costume competition!!! However, following some bad episodes at said nightclub and the trauma of a relationship gone stupidly wrong, I have sworn never again to don the outfit, never again to sway and stagger about, never again to ask why the rum is gone. So..... *Dons thief outfit - complete with hooded cloak, sneaks around in the shadows, knocks out Wannabe with a Blackjack and any other peeps nearby, before proceeding to thoroughly loot the area for valuables* A backhander from the pawned loot for anyone who can guess which PC game I'm a big fan of (and have recently started playing again)?

And there's me thinking all my gardening problems would be solved on one easy to read post. Anyone lost a Gazelle I am sure I can see one in my back garden or is that the top of a giraffes head I see peeping from the well mown lawn, gosh how I wished I knew how to look after my garden and pond. I have just been up to a garden centre to ask if anyone there can come and help me with my pond.

Sorry CG! I did think we might actually end up with a gardening thread, even though it was started TIC, but it hasn't quite gone that way... yet!

Ventrider how do I stop my pond waterfall from leaking, how do I clean the bottom of the pond, how do I stop my pond filter always blocking up, how do I know if the fish are happyor sad, how do I know what to feed the happy/sad fish. Finally why do my fish open their mouths but never speak to me. (and don't say because they can't get a word in with me) bet you wished you had never offered your help.

Hiya Cruiser gal Haha Well i did offer If your waterfall is a liner running into the pond make sure you have no splits in it. If you have rocks on the liner, make sure the water is not running under and off the liner. How ever if it is made of concreat it will need to sealed with a pond paint ie (G4 Clear pond sealer) Your pond filter needs to be cleaned out before it blocks up, then you will have a cleaner pond. (it is working and doing its job, when it starts to block it will bypass back into the then its not doing its job) The main sign of a happy fish is swimming about and there dorsal fin (top Fin) upright. But do check the pond water for any problems. Feed a good protein food in the summer, and a wheatgerm base in the colder weather. Haha No and there not deaf lol If the fish are at the surface of the pond gasping for air, That means you have a Oxygen problem. A Good Air pump and air stones some in the pond & Filter Box will resolve the problem. I do hope this is of help. Best of luck. Gordon (Ventrider1)

Thanks for all that advice Gordon, my waterfalls are made of butal (spl) liner and have stones and slate on them to make them look natural, the water is escaping under and around some of the stones so I have diverted the water to just one of the falls to let the other dry out, then hopefully I will be able to re glue the stones back in place. I haven't had the water checked but think it must be ok as I have lots of fish in the pond some of which are only very young, some just getting their colour and lots still black and some really huge fish. The water that goes through the filter also passes through an ultra violet light so most days you can see right down to the bottom of the pond its so clear but I think what is happening there is so much rubbish on the base of the pond this is blocking up the filter also I seem to get a lot of weed/stringy stuff on the waterfall not sure how to treat that. I run two pumps in the pond one for the water falls and one that pumps water through an old fashioned water pump that also flows on to the waterfalls I didn't realise I would need to feed the fish two types of food I feed them pond sticks with protien during the summer months. I leave the waterfalls running all year round to make sure there is plenty of oxygen in the pond and to stop it freezing over, not sure if I am doing right doing this. It's a shame I can't put pictures on here to show you what I mean.
