I dislike Valentines day more than any other holiday, why can't you tell someone all year round they rock your world, and besides it way way too commercial.
@'Kake It seems to me, the people who DO bother with VD (how unfortunate) do give wee prezzies and nice surprises all year round. Its just a great excuse to make an extra special fuss. Gonner send Cupid around to your house with a special arrow
Any day a man makes an effort for his girl (or woman for her man) is special, no matter what title commercialism gives it.
Money doesn't have to be spent. I love it when a cuppa or a meal has been made for me, especially if the man in question doesn't usually do those things.
I don't appreciate lingerie but I love flowers, especially if they have fragrance like Freesias. (I don't like roses tho lol)
I got hitched to my second wife on valentines day 2004 it was also a leap year ... thourt that would be a very romantic day but the extra cost for flowers / classic car hire / and so on was outragus ..
so it just shows you that it is a commercial day for money to be made
after all...
i found that a surprise card and single rose at any time of the year was allways welcomed and helped to keep the spark of romance alive..
Good idea to start this thread!! Lots of us with stuff to get off our chests !!
My ex. would give me the same card each valentines day..it said it all and I didn't need anything else...just the reassurance that I was special and mattered in his life. Fine while it lasted..then the blonde bimbo came along
This year ?? Well, it IS an important day for me ...tho not important re cost , it's time together that means the most. A time for just the 2 of you to be together and enjoy being together
Doesn't look like that will be happening for me this year (unless I take the initiative ...should I ?? opinions welcomed!!) ...so maybe time to change my "attached " on my profile ???!!!!!!!!!!!
Alice...I know that "should I, shouldn't I feeling" - and hate it.
Will he take it the wrong way? Will he think it means I want more from him? Will he be scared off?
I even went onto those online card sites ( moonpig etc), I even considered asking my American friend to make me one and send it to him from there (that'd confuse him!).
In the end I decided not to do anything, but that soon changed and I send him a secret message on here - despite knowing he hasn't been on here for ages!
Lasd year when I was actually seeing someone - Valentines didn't even come up. It wasn't mentioned at all. But then I wasn't expecting anything so there was no disappointment there.
I suspect it would be a very thick and very confusing book...despite what men say. Let me know when you find one! Or maybe we should write one ourselves - all the ladies here - the BM Man Manual.
