Went down to Hastings today via Goudhurst and Pembury and was absolutely wonderful. I predict no rain next Monday but if it does I will stay and hide in Ashford. They charge for bikes in the car park in Hastings!!!!!! What is the world coming to.
Colin, there are some bike only parking area's in Hastings which are free, one being right outside the Carlisle Pub granted they're not very well signposted, which is a pain in the bum if you're not familiar with the area.
I got clobbered by an over zealous warden a year ago in the big carpark, luckily i proved i had got a ticket and the fine was waived.
No such hassle on Mayday though, just park where ever you can find a hole for your bike.
Dave VM, why do you want to put your bike in a hole? it's a nice little bike.
Colin because YOU said it was going to be hot. I am now only going to be wearing my speedo's and lid and you can take the blame for all the young ladies that stack their bikes.
XJ what can I say about you and camping, but save your camping for Brighton.
I actually said it was going to be dry and sunny, not hot, I don't like hot except in curries. PB, I worry about confident outspoken women, they threaten my fragile male ego.
But really looking forward to meeting some new people on monday - kicking a few tyres and discussing the merits of desmodromic valve gear etc.
unfortunately my speedo's got confiscated by the police, but it was all a great misunderstanding anyway, it wasn't my fault the 's' had worn off. so all i have left is my mankini, although i understand there is a naturist beach at hastings so maybe...............
This is a bit of a PM I got back from Dave when I asked him.
: Basically some of us have arranged to meet at the lay by on the southbound side at the top (Tonbridge) end of the A21 Pembury by pass, which looking at my atlas is just after the first roundabout you come to after leaving the M25 just south of Tonbridge. We will be there at 10.00 for ½ hour for a cuppa at the van, then we are riding down to the other end of the by pass to the BP garage at Kippings Cross Services (which is the main start point) for a 10.45 departure back into Hastings.
If you want to or are able to meet at the lay by i'm planning to park the V-Max as close as i can to the entrance of the layby so you know that we are there, we should be lurking close by or in the Queue at the burger van.
This is where i'm aiming for
