whether its intentional or not is not for me to say but having read the posts.. you lamble come across as very condescending, arrogant and rude. like i sed i may be wrong this is just my opinion. i would not preach to anybody, however i would offer support if ASKED! we are all entitled to an opinion but to push urs above all others is wrong, this site is not clique at all and if you find it so then you should take a look at yourself, maybe you are alienating yourself.
Lamble - i have no desire to make you leave or stay here. Your abrasive attitude has got not just my back up but others as well. I'm all for learning about bikes, be it riding or maintaining but trying to make yourself out as better than everyone else isnt doing you any favours. Why not take a chill pill and ease yourself into the site? Shouting your mouth off just makes you look like a pillock, who's full of his own self importance. I'm sure yr a nice fella with loads to offer but yr not doing yourself any favours. Take a back seat, see what we're all about and join in. Most people on this site are here to make friends and if that leads to somthing else then great. This is a social site and we are social people, we dont need the great almighty to show us the way. Come down from your pedestal and take us for what we are, just normal people who have normal lives. You might actually like us!
Again I say, it's all a matter of interpretation Lamble. Personally, I've never
interpreted this site to be cliquey. There is more action & meets etc among those further north than where I am and obviously many people now know each other in RL, but I don't see that as cliquey. It's just what it is. I've argued with and
agreed with pretty much everyone who's contributed to this thread at
one time or another as well as lots of others who haven't. There are probably those out there who dread seeing my bloody face crop up yet again on the forums, but I can live with that.
You already rephrased the original post you directed towards RK, so
presumably you understood that it could've been misinterpreted in a
negative manner and not in the positive manner which you intended?
Life would be dreadfully dull if we agreed with each other all the time.
OK so DC was rude in her original post to you, but then in your
response, you made assumptions about her which were incorrect. By
calling everything that was said after your response "petulant", are
you inferring that people shouldn't respond unless it's to agree with
you? Does she not have the right to respond and correct you on your
incorrect impression of her?
Surely a place where everyone agrees with everyone else is somewhat cliquey? We wouldn't want that, would we?
Just because lots of people disagree with you, or the manner in which you've posted, doesn't make them a clique.
The reference Geoff made to finding a cupboard to hide in from DC was
surely merely a gesture to lighten the mood a little and have you guys
make friends? That's how I read it anyway. Interpretation.
I can't speak for anyone else Excalibur, but I'm not heated on the MAG
thread, I'm just discussing. I don't do heated. Unless it's to pick
holes in stupid people in post offices who are under the idiotic
impression that Michael Jackson is some kind of godhead!
Like you say - it's not personal... and that's always the best way. I
love debate. Always have done. And I'll even pick the opposing side of
the argument to that which I believe in, just to practice debating.
It's interesting, gets the old cogs working and you even get to learn
things you didn't know before, just so long as you don't have as your starting point "I'm right and everyone else is wrong".
hm, joined this post way too late.
I'm all in favour of restrictions on passing test, be it DAS or otherwise. After all, if you just want to go fast then you should really look to do it on a track....
From riding something on L's even a sports 600's a big old jump.

Hello folks! First off can I apologise to some of you that have addressed me personally in your message and I didn't respond. I've just realised the advert in the middle of the string isn't the bottom of the page so I was only seeing half of the conversation!! I've been nowhere to be seen cos i've been out on the bike clocking up a few more dangerous miles Lamble, i've read the whole thread tonight and your explanation of things, however put across (obviously offensive to some!) has stuck in my mind and made me realise that it's about feeling what the bikes doing and keeping it under control. I've had a re-visit to my old physics class so thanks for that! I have a useless social memory so I can't remember names but thanks for the offer to ride with me! The gyroscopic and god knows whatascopic information was fascinating but it seems like we're moving away now from real interesting stuff and doing a bit bickering lol i'm not offended by anything anyone has said so can we get back to talking about bikes. I'm reducing my risk by listening to everything everyone is saying, going out and trying it and if I understand why and it feels right i'll keep doing it and get better. If I rode with any of you I'll be plenty well back at a sensible pace and well aware of my capabilities. I'm not bothered about getting left behind because if I feel the need to keep up I don't enjoy the ride and would prefer to get 'lost'. I'm a newbie, green as grass but really enthusiastic so I wish we could drop some of the machoism, only a fool would put themselves at risk for the sake of 'front' so an open forum for people to ask questions without being felt to feel 'dumb' is what's important here and if this really is a true 'community' shouldn't we encourage each other to ask questions for the safety of the group! Whoever said I can't ride with you, I wouldn't want to, not because of my lack of skill, more because of your lack of concern for your fellow riders!! Now let's get back to the lessons eh It's great to read the whole conversation when I get to the ad, see, learnt something else lol
Yes i was rude, but only because it seems i have to be to make myself heard. I've been on this site for a few years now and have one of the lowest post counts on here. I only speak when i feel i have to. I take exception to people making assumptions about other people, particularly when they dont know them, even more so when its from newbies. I've spent time and effort getting to know people on here and i wouldnt dream of telling anyone how to do anything, especially without knowing them.
I'm not averse to being 'advised' on where i'm going wrong but spouting "im the expert" really gets on my nerves.
Once you've met me and had an indication of what i'm about, then please feel free to 'advise' me. Failing that, STFU, am not interested. I'm not so much of a cabbage that i cant make my own decisions
Hi Lou, hope your good, can't say as I've been able to tell, have had 30 days 'chained to the bar' while my asst jollied round thailand, so hardly been outside!! I should by rights have a good old ride out on Sunday if the weather is good but might succum to watching tennis at the telly instead..! Need a couple of days of fettling before I can go out for fun
Heated is great WB then the true story enters the discussion , and we are allowed to voice our opinions Thank God also living in a country where debate is encouraged is magnificent , some parts of the globe you can be beheaded for much less , as TM has already told us. Where is TM anyway ???lol
had a feeling it would end in tears eventually! and back on track wiv the counter thingy ive conciensously rode tonight looking at my cornering and bingo i'm countersteering!! its so subtle but i mus have learned it subconcieously! now i'm aware of it i'm thinkin about cornering and improving it! so we carry on learning so cheers lamble for bringing it up at least!
Wasn't intended as a criticism DC - just an observation - yep it was a rude thing to say, but there is choice in how you react to it. If you'd have told me I had my head up my arse, I'd probably agree with you and have a laugh about it Most people think I'm an opinionated miserable beeatch anyway!
Unfortunately Lamble didn't take that line. He jumped on the defensive, made a load of incorrect assumptions about you, and then he appeared to object to you responding and correcting him.
I'm the opposite way Billy... I don't do kneejerk reaction stuff... when I get heated, I start blurting things I had no intention of ever saying... once said, they can't be unsaid...
So I tend to mull things over first, wait til I've calmed down enough to talk rationally about it and then say my piece. At least then I know it's what I really believe and not just something I've blurted out in the heat of the moment. But yes - we are very lucky indeed to live in as free a society as we do.
Anyway good to see RK's back
& sorry TM... you were saying... counter steering...
