a few of us kent-ites and ora... essex people are getting together on the 21 october to ride the burnham bends. meet in battlesbridge, on through althorne to burnham on crouch (the bendy bit). cup of tea and maybe grub in the cafe, then up to bradwell on sea, which are s'posed to be very nice roads too, and then maybe back through steeple to cold norton. we haven't finalised a start time yet but anyone interested stick yer name 'ere.
satnavs are banned. I had a very bad experience with one in norfolk (i think). We will stick to a piece of paper taped to your tank carol, you will be fine just don't take crayons.
the burnham bends consist of 5 or 6 bends and thats it !!!! alot of sad people in essex think its the bollix and go there every sunday to ride them ... trust me its not worth it , you will be dissapointed .. go to finchinfield instead ..
buzz
Have done the bends and yeah they are short but there is more road than just those two miles. Have heard of finchinfield but have no idea where it is, maybe for another day.
hi xj
all good biking roads go to and go through finchinfield , the little village has a pub and cafe , and is a popular stopping place for bikers ... give it a go mate , many many miles of good roads
having consulted my best friend google i find finchinfield is only 35 miles from burnham on crouch. so.... meet in battlesbridge 10;30 on to burnham on crouch for a cuppa. back along the bends the other way and on to finchinfield through maldon and witham. then down to great dunmow and on to chipping ongar and finish in brentwood.
according to google maps its about 80 miles and should take, not including natural breaks and cups of tea etc about three hours riding.
just past the bridge in battlesbridge is the barge inn, next to the old telephone company on hawk hill. i will be meeting wonnie and carolrd350 there at 10;30. there may be a few others but it depends on hangovers and other commitments.
