im sorry inspector gadget but the rules are there for everyone to abide by.i had my pic changed quite a few times when i first joined as i did not read the rules properly.why should there be one rule for her and one for everyone else???? yes we pay to be here but the rules are there for a reason!!! so i disagree because when im on here i like to see who im talking too and thats why anyone with no pic gets skimmed over and ignored. or are we all making our own rules up these days????
I would like to see a rule about oversized text and colours other than black in posts. in my book this is a shouting and is ugly to the eye. but then at the end of the day you could say we all have different views and tastes. personally I did not see anything wrong with Queenies pic. I see her face and would know it was her. would the mods like us to help them by reporting any photos we see that we feel comply with the TOS?
actually MOW yes the mods would, there are a huge amount of members on BM now and not that many mods (who are voluntary). I'm not getting into the issue of pics, cos quite honestly it doesn't make any difference to me whether you want to put up a picture of your backside, back of a helmet, one that is 10 years old or whatever, however many people do want to know who they are talking to. Carrying this on is just causing people on both sides of the fence to get more irritated and fed up with the whole thing.
Insector Gadget,
With all the crap folk have in there life's you really think this is that important that you want to make a big deal about a Biker Match rule on photo's which was debated some time ago by the members and a vote taken and agreed. I am sick of folk just wanting to start a row every 5 mins. If you dont like the rules leave the site, If you dont like my post complain to Matt about me not the Mods they have enough to deal with putting all the profil pics right as some folk cant or dont read the site rules.
I raised an issue last week regarding forum posts, I was angry at being censored, but I received a reply and an explanation as to why my posts were edited. I was directed to the site rules, which in all honesty, I had not read since joining, and found that I was wrong, I have accepted this and will abide in future. Why can't other members abide by the rules and accept decisions that may be made against them? As I pointed out in my complaint, we are all adults on here, or we're supposed to be, and yet some of us are more grown up than others it seems I wasn't on here when the vote was taken regarding profile pics, but it seems the majority voted for clear and specific photo's, showing the members face in good relief. Why then do some members insist on putting photo's that do not conform and that have been REPLACED not deleted as their main pic? I for one didn't find Queenies photo offensive but fail to see why this particular bone of contention has to keep resurfacing. As far as this thread is concerned, 'we want queenies pic back', I haven't said something so childish since leaving junior school back in the 70's, grow up, the photo showing Queenie's behind is still in her album, if you feel the need to ogle it from time to time then just go into her profile and have a look.
Ok I just dug it out this was the vote.
Last results posted by Matt, on 24th January 2012 (page 9)
57 Only photos clearly identifying the member
38 Photos of member or with partner only, not big groups though
9 Photos of anything, I'm not bothered
0 Photos of member *OR* his/her bike (without the person on!)
0 Photos in groups, but only of people. Unable to identify who the member is!
Now if you start the not meny voted thats not Matts problem all members had the oppertunaty to vote but most didnt. No there will not be another vote Matt and the staff have more important things to do
Here here jp and as for writing in different fonts we do what we feel like at the time unless its in capitals its not shouting and its not rude!! And only reason this is in black is cos I can't change font etc on my mobile.I really love colour and its called self expression so there!!
66 hon I think the reason the issue keeps resurfacing is that while some peeps' pics are removed, others which are similarly breaking the rules aren't.... and people are noticing this and bringing it up on threads instead of reporting the relevant pics.
If more peeps reported these pics to mods they would be sorted.
I have started reporting non-compliant pics now instead of just whingeing on here about them Im now 'touting' on them but I did state in a post last week I would do this anyway so if anyone don't like me reporting them they can take it up with me via PM
Hope this thread does get closed as this is getting really immature now.
If you don't like someone's pic or think its unfair report it via PM to mods!..... then go out for a drive on your bike and look at the bigger pic in life ffs!
I understand what you mean lulu, I personally couldn't give a monkey's about pics, if I can't see the persons face I don't read any further, simple. Having said that, when members can't accept the rules and insist on commiting the same breach of the rules after being advised of the relevant indiscretion, they seem to feel the need to 'rebel' much the same way a teenager would on finally arriving in puberty. It's not touting to report profiles that don't conform to the rules, the moderators and Matt himself have all said that a little help from members with this topic in particular would help, the moderators are volunteers and as such don't get paid to keep the site as it was intended to be, they are also members just like everyone else and would rather enjoy using the site instead of browsing profiles looking for non conforming photo's.
There was one point made, and that was there shouldn't be pictures of children in the main picture. BM may be a 'specialist' site, but there are a lot of weirdos out there, believe me, had PMs off a couple on here. (Nobody who uses the forums, or goes to meets, I hasten to add).
Speaking as a Moderator, can people please just take a minute or two to read the rules, it would save so much time, especially the amount of time we have to trawl through profiles, which have been changed.
There are a huge amount of new members joining this site, who probably check in a few times, see some posts they might deem as childish and may not bother to stick around, which is a shame as BM is a great site and has been a big part of many people's lives.
I've been a member of BM for almost 6 years and a moderator for much of that time and I've seen this kind of thing so many times.
Like others have said, if a certain profile picture is not completely what you want to look at, then take a look at their profile and look at their other pictures at your leisure.
But please just abide by the rules and let us concentrate on the other things that we do, without having to sort out these issues which crop up again and again.
I'm sorry but if you don't like the way this site is run, then please feel free to look elsewhere... I can only speak from personal experience and experience of many very good friends I've made on here, when I say... your loss.
Now.. moderator hat off........
'Lighten up...join in and have fun!'
Yes... colours, fonts, text size, emoticons etc are there to be used... only typing in upper case (capitals) is widely known throughout the internet/word processing as shouting.
In the rules ....
Photos of children are explicitly not allowed! Unless: it is photos of yourself with your own children. You must have at least one other photo which clearly identifies you. This policy is so that we adhere to the Children's Protection Act 1989.
