Hi ..I've just my first bike and am doing my CBT in 2 weeks ...can anyone recommend any insurance companies please? I'm 52 and have a good driving record!!
Hi, just a heads up your driving record probably won't count. Mine didn't. Have a good look round on comparison sites but ring as well depends on the bike too. One you have a few quotes you will have a better idea.
My first year (3 years ago) the quotes ranged from £400 TO £1200.00.
It will depend on where you keep the bike at night, if there's a lot of tea leaves in your area. Have a phone around, what's good for one may not be any good for you.
Shop around and read the "small print", I had a quote from MCE which included helmet and leathers cover but only up to £150 (helmet was more than that) and with a high excess, they phoned later to offer me a better deal with an additional cost.
Everyone will have different opinions on insurers so shop around for yourself and compare all the prices, as RB says above prices can vary even for a 125, cheapest for my 125 was £120 a year. If you have an older bike you used to be able to get 'classic' insurance which was cheaper still but no idea if you still can get that. Make sure you read the Insurer's small print and terms and conditions. As Ragnar says it is all to do with if your bike is in/out of a lockable garage, and the area you live in. Good luck with the CBT too, practice all the manoeuvres as much as you can before doing it and you won't go wrong
Insurance prices? less than half a gallon of petrol a week. If you ride 5000 mile per year insurance 3p per mile petrol ....10p per mile When you look at costs for servicing, tyres etc . Insurance is the cheapest bill after road tax. Enjoy your riding.
