hi I have a 91 Kawasaki gpx 600 been stood a while I came to start her up she ran ok then noticed fuel running down carb so question is how can I stop this and what caused it ? im no mechanic but I can do some things any help would be great cheers colin
After a lay up and you have leaking, I would suggest a thorough strip and clean, making note of how many turns on the adjustable screws and needle position and an overhaul gasket kit. Ultrasonic bath is the best, my local lawnmower repair man is my nearest available!
tbh I would try doing this first , fuel these days goes off very quickly and gums things up , if I were you I would drain your tank and see if you can drain your carbs either running bike till it stops or draining from drain screw at bottom of carbs. Then fill bike up with fuel make sure carbs are full ie start bike if you can. Leave for four to five days and gum will have dissolved into new fuel start and give it a good run out. Hope this helps can save loads of peeing about
It can really only be your float valve which will have stuck down as your fuel will have evaporated in the carb , unless theres a seal leak on the bowl of your carb leak but I suspect the former
yea it was my float stuck spent day taking carbs off cleaned and replaced " got sun burn too ouch! " but BIG thankyou for all your advice im now a happy bunny again cheers
