My birthday falls on the weekend this year 3rd July, and I am going to do a coast to coast sunset to sunrise ride out. Starting in Blackpool watching the sunset then riding through the night to Scarborough to watch the sunrise.
Everybody is welcome to join me, the route will be learner friendly and a nice and steady ride, I will update the route as necessary to accommodate 24hr services.
Will be leaving Blackpool at approx 2200 hrs on the 2nd July and arriving Scarborough at approx 0400 hrs 3rd July.
I hope you will be able to make it as I don't know if this has been done before and should be a great ride.
All the details have posted in the events section for July.
What a lovely idea and invitation not that I like riding at night or could make it as I'm across the sea, but still a lovely idea, hope some take you up on the invite 😊

Thanks MAC IoM, it's something I have wanted to do for a long time, and doing it on my birthday seems as good a time as any.
Just a thought but would the A59 from Preston to York be nicer than sitting on the motorway all the way? I know you said the route would be open to change.... Pity its 208 miles to the start for me🙄

Hi Strom, not intending to do motorways going to keep it learner friendly, I might even be on L plates myself depending on the current test dates.
Will do Slowgoose. I have also thought about it for those that don't or might not be able to manage it in one go, to see if some camping can arranged at either or both ends of the ride, will let you know anyway, cheers. Mike.
Hi SlowGoose, no, no updates as of yet, just been so busy at work no time to plan anything or do anything lately. Yeah 2023 will probably be a good shout 👍
Looking at leaving Blackpool 10pm ish, sunset at 21.46, nice steady ride with stops, roughly 5 1/2 hours, reach Scarborough by 4 am ish sunrise 04.32.
Will look at a suitable start point, and destination point.

I'm telling you that it's ok to have it for brekkie.
For several years I went to Farmyard Party and got up early to go to the Harbour Bar for my brekkie on the Saturday morning. Did it for so long mates knew to be up n ready to go early doors. Fab- -u-lous!
I saw something similar on Top Gear few years ago now. When they drove a Jag from Lands End to Lowestoft (sunset to Sunrise) looked good albeit he did use boring dual carriageways. I may see if im free and join you.
Hi MoR6, brilliant, I am going to suggest though that anyone who does come along, to ride their own ride. I myself will be stopping quite a lot on the journey for photos and videos. This will probably be the only chance I will get to do this, so want to capture as much of it as possible.
