I find it a little difficult to believe that with so many public reports of the gunman on the roof the security forces let him get so many shots off before reacting 🤔
I'm no fan of Trump, but this is a really worrying development in modern American politics. There are plenty asking for calm, including Biden and Melinda T, but with widespread conspiracy minded fruitloops and the easy availability of serious firepower things could easily get out of hand.
Steve is right. The availability of high powered assualt style weapons in the US is not ideal. I do believe in the right to bear arms for personal and home defense or hunting/pest control is a good thing, but military grade weapons with a fast cycle rate belong solely in the domain of the military or police authorities. Hog hunting is a necessity in some states as is deer and buffalo from a conservation view, but owning a .50 calibre Barrett is overkill for these animals, no pun intended. Anything with an effective kill range over 100 yds is going a bit too far, the right to bear arms though, is a fundamental right and should remain.
