Has any one had a bike from them?Just wandering how good they are as they have opened up another dealership. Is bigger group better than smaller local dealers. Which is quite some thing as it seems other dealers are going into administration. Going back to the early 70's Melksham had two dealers Bob Missen's and can't remember the other one):
A member off here told me to steer clear of them after he went to one of their places. I told that to my brother when he was looking for another bike. He went to a different store and come back saying they was great. So it might depend on what member of staff you get.
At the branch I went to only one member of staff had ridden to work, on L plates, and knew absolutely nothing about the bike I wanted to look at and there were footprints on top of the bike where it had obviously been climbed over at some point???
I was looking at a Tracer 9 GT and was told that if I bought it I could buy a new digital one piece clock, that is on the new GT + model and retro fit it in place of the weird two piece clocks. I never got as far as a trade in price for my bike 😂
I got asked by a mate if I didn’t mind, to pop over to the Bristol branch a year or so back to have a Quick Look over a couple of bikes for him (he lives over Norfolk way). Not that I was expecting anything like a test ride etc, but after having a good look around the couple of bikes in question, I asked an ‘assistant’ to if they could be moved so I could have a better look and if possible to fire them up / look at service history etc. Nope… not interested. ‘They have a 30 day return policy after purchase’ is all I got from her. Can I see the service history then please…? Basically no… Zero interest. I walked out. I won’t be darkening their doors again. My mate found a decent bike closer to him geographically a few weeks later on anyway. If I can avoid large dealerships (especially for buying bikes) I will do anwyay, but I won’t ever bother with that place again.
In Sept 2023 i bought a Rocket Touring from them. The salesman didn't have a clue about the bike. i got it delivered and they broke the number plate off loading it onto the van. Personally i won't go there again, the bike was well overpriced.
I bought a gsxf from Bradford in march this year. Salesman wouldn’t haggle much and had to collect from Macclesfield due to MOT which was annoying but in terms of the bike, I’ve had no issues with it and very happy
I bought my first XJR from Macclesfield branch... Never again. When I went to pick it up. I was told they had to send it for MOT and I had to come back week after. I didn't think to double check it and when going through through the paperwork couple month later I found out MOTwas done 2 months before collection date. Within first 2 weeks cluch slave cylinder had to be replaced replaced. It was completely corroded around the o-ring. Avoid them like a plague mate!
Bought a Sportster from the Macclesfield one, all good. I think if you do your research and don't expect too much knowledge from the staff things will be OK. They are a "buy em cheap, stack em high" operation with a quick turnover. So you can expect them to have done a basic service and visual inspection at best. There will always be some risk to buying second hand bikes.
They buy in and advertise all their bikes, but won't do anything to them, or for you, until you show serious interest i.e. put down a deposit, then they (say) will prep for sale with MoT and possibly service. Can't speak to how reliable they are on that, but the condition in the showroom/warehouse is as when acquired, and that's the way it'll stay.
