Someone suggested an Odyssey battery due to the fact, the bike only gets used for once a week in the winter, and then only to give her a run to work and back.
Now the question is. Is it worth the price at around £165 against around £80 for a Yuasa
From what I have read they do everything you require for a motorcycle except they don't appear to claim to discharge any slower. I have a £26 solar charger on the shed roof so I don't have to plug a mains charger in? Is that a possibility for a cheaper option?
Hmm, thats the price of 6 months tax and a normal battery or a posh battery... Going on the could be hit by a bus tomorrow factor, I'd go for the cheaper option, as I couldn't live with not being around to get the value out of the posh one 🤣
You get what you pay for but Yuasa are decent I have used them in the past and not had any problems. If you get it from Halfords it should be under a 2 year garentee
Well to a point all products do what they claim, But we all know the story. Well sir as you use your motorcycle on a tuesday of the 3 rotation of the moon when it was in allinement with Jupiter that will render you in breach of the terms laid out in said Warranty. Does that help Ragnar ? Or shall I find my own way out
Ok joking aside Ragnar, when these came out some 17 yrs ago, I was fitting these on large standby generator sets. Whilst they are smaller than a similar sized lead acid, they were also nearly double the cost & the weight. They were bought on the premise they would last longer, which I believe they did. From what I recall, they use a cyclic charger, like on mobility scooters and connection terminals can be different. My only concern on a bike, would be whether vibration would causs any issues. But then again if they survive on mobility scooters, which I worked on for a small period too. Also from what I recall, these batteries need to be drained/used a certain amount so that they charge back to full capacity, otherwise its a case of diminising returns, i.e full charge becomes less than 100%.
