I don't know about anyone else , but i think it's courteous to always reply to a PM , even if it's only a simple thank you .

It depends who sent it and what was in it, but in general I agree with you fj

I have sent quite a number of PMs , with about 10% actual replies .
Just think it good to have some sort of response .

With me it's NODS, men send me a nod and when I respond they ignore me. Either they hit the 'send nod' by mistake or just wanted to send a nod but didn't want a response which is weird OR the nod system has broken down

I think that's just pure ignorant and very rude

LOL fj, since I added the words 'I don't reply to nods, not since I was ignored when I respsonded' I've had loads of nods, mostly the senders haven't even read my profile. Quite a few are married men, dunno why that is, just cos I say I'm looking for a pillion on rides out doesn't mean I want anything more, and certainly not from anyone who is married. So I guess the moral to that is if you want something just say you don't lol

I agree that it is simple good manners to reply to a pm. I would never ignore a pm, even if it's just to say no thanks.

I reply to PM's and nods, even if its just a thanks. I dont tend to send nods and PM's for personal reasons, just moderator ones, and they are one of 3 types, remove reference to ... insert relevant website, or please fill in the rest of the details in your pm, or the pic doesnt comply with site rules and has been deleted/changed.

When I first joined I did my best to reply to every PM, but it got a bit out of hand and I just couldn't keep up with them all, so I ended up cherry-picking them and answering the ones that actually interested me.

You don't want to be rude, but you also have a life outside of BM! (Mind you - sometimes they just get blanked because they've obviously just taken the scatter gun approach to messaging wimmen in the hopes that someone takes them up on it, rather than actually bothering to read your profile!)

When I arrange an event, I'll often drop PMs to people who've signed up for it that I've not previously met but it really doesn't bother me if they reply or not. I don't see it as being rude - I've just given them some information to help with turning up or how best to find us on arrival. It's not necessary to reply.

I'm with WB on this one. I dont often ignore pm's(not that i get many) but sometimes you just have to. I mean why would a 60yr old want to 'get to know me better'? My bloody father is younger than that!

I also don't assume that someone's not answering just because they've opened my PM but haven't responded within a nanosecond of doing so.

I've had a few stroppy messages from people demanding to know why I'm "ignoring" them in the past!

Well, I wasn't ignoring you - I'd just opened my messages to have a quick read, then I went off and did something else. Now though, I AM ignoring you, you impatient personage, you'll have to learn some day that the universe doesn't revolve around you!
