Is it just me or do other people notice that some messages they send are read but never replied too? If its me then fair enough, but when I receive a message I always reply out of politeness and the simple fact that this is a site for friends, not replying isn't very friendly is it? Or am I just being paranoid?

Dont get paranoid about things,,,ive been on this site for over a year and thought the same at first,,,then you come to realise that youve made great friends at meets etc,,,,so when you dont get replys just forget about them anyway otherwise you will beat yourself up about it over nothing,,,,although i will say a reply costs nothing .... also some people will reply as much as a week or two later!!!!!

Couldn't agree more. Just cos this is all virtual doesn't mean manners have to be set aside. It would be nice as well, if peeps could take a few secs to scroll back down a thread. . esp the "made me unhappy" one. I'm sure most of us do just this anyway but its easy to overlook a post that is quite important to whoever wrote it.
Sure I'm not totally innocent here . . so apologies to anyone I've ignored!! I shall persevere :>

I'm not going to beat myself up about it CW

I know what you mean Alice about the sad, unhappy thread, some really banal comments go on there sometimes after someone has posted something really heart rending.

I agree, just because we're on the net rather than speaking face to face common good manners should not be ignored but unfortunately it often is

as its called biker match think people automatically assume u looking for a date or watever when u say hello. which is not the case with me am just looking to widen ma circle of freinds (which I have done) but i agree it is annoying and not very freindly just ignoring some1

Think you're right there madhat but we've also got to remember some people are only here to find a date so if they don't fancy you they'll ignore you, especially if you're only looking for friendship.

Obviously i've never been ignored on here and honest i'm not speaking from personal experience!

Lol RK, we believe you mate

Isn't that a bad thing though, ignoring you because they don't fancy you? Glad I'm not that shallow. I think I actually don't want a reply from those sort of people, if thats the way they think.

@RK so how do we separate those ehrr wanting to date and those who would just like to get people together for ride outs, nights out? cos in my thinking if you attend these things that your more likley to find MR/MRS right

DG It's not just you. like most others, when i first came on the site 3 years ago i tried saying hello to people just cuz they were in fairly close proximity. But as you found out. a lot of the time they just don't respond. There's about 19000 people who don't go to meets or use the forums. i think a lot are just cruising the site and others like it for whatever reason. It's like a cattle market. If they were that interested they'd be coming to meets and using the forums/chat room. I don't bother any more. I have a lot of freinds far and wide on the site now and we have a great bunch down here who are now close freinds away from the site too. and it seems to be growing all the time. If your out there and your local then just seek us out. we don't bite. Not all of us anyway. unless the rumours are true about BJ.

Well said DG

If the truth be known madhat when I joined the site I thought I needed a woman in my life and messaged everyone within 50 miles, never got ignored of course but after attending loads of meets realised the friendships were far more important. If Mrs Right comes along that would be the icing but in the meantime i've never felt more content with my lot

PS I think i've apologised to most of those I PM'd in the first couple of weeks but if I've missed you out, my apologies

Or am I just being paranoid? Nope DG99, it aint just you, it happens to me a lot. I also get weird ones who reply to my PM but obviously have no interest in starting a conversation so why reply in the first place?? Personally I'd rather they didn't reply at all than mess me about. From my personal experience I've found that male friends tend to drop me when they start dating, so maybe the people who don't reply to you are just saving themselves from that experience? As for getting to events to make friends and maybe the other half will show up, well the hardest part for me is the getting there as I have great difficulty getting a lift.
