Dear friends,
It’s with great sadness that I must unfortunately announce the death of a fellow BMer.
Nigel Wright, username border riever, was tragically killed doing what he loved best on Saturday afternoon around 2:50pm.
The accident happened between Eggleston and Middleton-in-Teesdale. One other vehicle (a car) was involved.
Nigel, 45, of West Crescent, Darlington, was heading west through Middleton-In-Teesdale when he was in collision with a car driven by a 66-year-old woman. It is believed the car was pulling out of a drive when the accident happened.
Nigel suffered fatal injuries when his yellow Ducati hit the woman's blue Mercedes Benz and he was thrown from the machine.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash which happened on a B road called Laneside outside the woman's Low Thatch Lea home.
The driver of the car suffered minor injuries only and did not need hospital treatment.
The road was closed to traffic until 7pm and police are asking anyone who saw the collision, and has not already come forward to ring the accident investigation unit on 0191-375-2159.
Our thoughts are now with his family who are believed to be taking comfort knowing he died doing what he loved best.
Below are some photos of Nigel. R.I.P
