A motorcyclist died today after his machine crashed with a car in Milnrow, Rochdale.
The accident was at 6.40am at the junction of Harbour Lane, and Elizabethan Way.
The victim's Yamaha motorbike collided with a Volkswagen Polo.
An ambulance crew took the 51-year-old rider to the Royal Oldham Hospital but he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Elizabethan Way was closed to traffic between the roundabout which accesses junction 21 of the M62 and Bridge Street.
Witnesses are asked to call traffic police on 0161 856 8802

Mick was a fantastic bloke and died doing what he loved the most, he was a big chap with a huge heart and had the loudest infectious laugh I have ever heard. He leaves behind a wife and 3 daughters so if anyone can help with info it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Wills, Mick is from Todmorden and was on his way to work when it happened, hence the early time of day. Lottie is completely devastated as Mick was her life he will be sorely missed by anyone that new him as he was such a nice chap. He has two daughters to Lottie and another daughter from his first marriage

Just a little update on this topic, witnesses have come forward and we are still waiting to hear the outcome from the police.
Over £600 was made in donations to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance at the funeral, which Mick would of been well chuffed with
