A camping barn in England is just somewhere to doss, mainly used by hikers. They can just have bunks, and nowt else; even the best can only be described as 'basic'.
The big plus point is that they are very cheap (and dry!).
Check out the facilities before you book.

Cheers guys I've been to the barns in Europe and found them to have a great atmosphere and a bit easier than lugging the tent around , yes they are basic but was hoping to find similar things in Scotland as planning a tour and would prefer drying facilities ect as almost certain hit rain up there lol
