As many bikers as possible needed Message from Stuart Graham, Co-ordinator of SERV Wessex
SERV Wessex Launch Day – Sunday April 1st The newly formed Wessex region of SERV, the UK’s largest Blood Bike organisation, will be holding a Grand Ride out to mark the launch of their new region. SERV Wessex volunteers operate across Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire, at night and over weekends and bank holidays. The region was formed from the old SERV Hampshire and SERV Wiltshire operations and has now expanded into Dorset to continue their mission. The volunteers deliver blood, frozen baby milk, samples for analysis, patient notes and other essentials to and from hospitals in the three counties at no expense to the NHS with volunteers giving up their time and paying their own fuel and maintenance costs.
A small group of riders will meet staff at the Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth, the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospital and the Salisbury District Hospital where they will present the staff of the pathology departments with their symbolic Service Level Agreements. These groups will then rendezvous locally with supporters from the three counties and ride to the Rownhams Service Area on the Westbound M27 from where the whole group will proceed to the Southampton and District Motorcycle Club in Woodside Avenue, Eastleigh. The patron of the club, legendary motorsport commentator Murray Walker OBE, will then present SERV Wessex with their new constitution.
Food and refreshments will be available at the Southampton and District Motorcycle Club where our members will be delighted to meet you and explain more about what we do.
Supporters who wish to join the ride out are requested to meet our teams at the following rendezvous points at 10:00am on Sunday April 1st:
Portsmouth: Hendy Honda car park, Clement Attlee Way, North Harbour, Portsmouth PO6 4SR
Bournemouth: Littledown Centre car park, Chaseside, Bournemouth BH7 7DX Salisbury: Britford Park & Ride Car Park, A338 Downton Road, SP5 4DS
SERV is registered charity and was founded in 1981 in Surrey, gradually spreading across the southern and eastern counties of England. SERV was a founder member of the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes.
